2 Bed Entire Upper Cottage Flat in Central Glasgow

Modern clean house within walking distance of the city centre. Good communication from the owner

Quiet area,very comfy bed

Only 1 towel per guest. Also the taps in the bath for the shower are the wrong colour! Red was cold and blue was hot! The bath filled with water when using the shower. The rug in the sitting room was a trip hazard,one corner is turned upwards.

The flat was within walking distance of a train station station on the line into town. There was also a dedicated parking spot outside the front door.

The property had obviously been fitted out on the cheap, with little thought and was desperately in need of some basic maintenance and TLC. When we arrived we discovered the under sink kitchen cupboard door was held on by just one of the hinges (they did offer to come and fix it, but we did not really want someone traipsing around while we were out. That was a mistake. We gradually found a range of other issues as we used the property which showed that it was quite poor compared to the other two we stayed in on this holiday. The water on the floor in the bathroom was not because the cleaner just finished, it was a leak from the bath area. The blind in the bathroom had fallen off and not been replaced. The furniture was worn and the slats fell out of the kids beds. Dead insects squashed on the walls. A whole list of trivial things, but which which added up to a disappointing holiday stay. They had obviously never lived in the property, an old cheap fridge which wobbled and the door was hung the wrong way, no instructions for the cooker and washing machine, no mirror over the sink to shave, just three pans in the kitchen, the bedside lamps were on extension cords from halfway down the room. Trivial but ultimately disappointing especially as we paid less for far better properties in Stirling and York.

Location was OK.

It could have been cleaner, bed could have been more comfortable, bedrooms could have had curtains, more toilet rolls, not to be asked, to take bins out ,wash dishes, put towels in washing machine to wash after you payed £80 for cleaning.

Access to appliances - fridge, washer/drier and television was handy. Available parking.

Not suitable for older guests (we’re in our 70’s) - bed is very low to the ground, the bathroom tub/shower difficult and dangerous, quite a number of steep stairs to manage luggage. Location was not Central Glasgow I would have thought. Seemed like an Air BNB….

The property was quiet. It would be good value for a group of four or five and is close to the city centre and Celtic Park with excellent public transport. The owners were very responsive, the wifi is good and the apartment was clean. Two bathrooms were a plus.

There was no option to open the bedroom window to relieve stuffiness (this meant the heating was good though, so no bad thing in one way). One of the single mattresses could do with replacing. No hot water in the shower above the bath. These were minor qualms. It is obviously a short-term rental property.
