The Villa is rather dated with well worn furniture and fittings which is not detectable from the on-line photos. It is located on a golf urbanisation, behind the golf course which the houses on the opposite side of the road overlook, and well back from the main road with little traffic noise. The sea is visible in the distance. Incoming planes pass over frequently throughout the day. The golf club bar and restaurant are open to non-members from lunch time till late evening and offer a good menu. The position means that the sun is only directly on the socializing area - terrace with rustic sofa and chair plus dining table with two benches that have definitely seen better days - during the morning till about 11-12 noon. After that it is necessary to sit on the lower terrace to catch the sun. While this area is pleasantly shielded from the prevailing wind, there is no shade, the only ‘umbrella’ being fixed in a position where one cannot sit under it and it has a clear, direct instruction not to move it! There is no heating or air con. Fans are provided in the bedrooms. We stayed in late January through to February and found the evenings chilly. I anticipate that in the summer the bedrooms might be hot. We managed to trip the main fuse box on the first day and were not sure whether this was zonal due to load shedding which we are accustomed to in South Africa or due to something we had done - we were subsequently informed that we should not use multiple appliances at the same time. I think we were using two hairdryers and the oven on that occasion. The contact (housekeeper or owner was not clear) had very little English and as we have no Spanish we found using Google translate and WhatsApp the most effective method of communication.

The bed linen, including the pillows, smelt musty which is probably the result of the clean (unironed and ageing) sheets and (somewhat frayed) towels being kept in plastic boxes in a store room in the garden. There were some herbs, spices, salt, pepper and oil in the kitchen and tea bags, sugar and coffee. However a couple of jars of coffee were so old their contents were solid and only fit to be binned. Likewise some of the sun care products that had been left behind by previous guests were congealed and really should have been binned at the end of last season! The barbecue is the brick built type with an adjustable wire tray but the tray for the charcoal is completely warped and twisted and the chimney does not ‘draw’ so our one experience of outdoor cooking resulted in a smoky and long drawn out attempt to cook 3 rib eye steaks over one the small corner of coals we were able to heat to something resembling the right temperature. The washing machine is modern and efficient and we did use some of the detergent that was available to freshen up the bath and pool towels as well as doing some of our own laundry. There are two airers and drying was no problem. There are disposal points for domestic rubbish on the urbanization and the Villa has several bins so rubbish can be sorted into recycling, etc. We booked for 25 days, with no discount for a long stay, and were surprised to find that we were expected to change the beds, etc ourselves each week, being presented with fresh linen once a week. As regular long stay renters around the world we are used to a weekly visit by housekeeping to change beds and have a quick clean around. To owners of holiday properties in general - if you want renters to keep your property as you’d like it, I believe it is your responsibility provide ample cleaning materials, dishwasher tabs, etc. No one wants to go out and buy these items which typically come in quantities sufficient for weeks on a short visit.

Questa casa entra tra le più belle che abbiamo mai affittato. Non manca davvero niente. Il gentilissimo proprietario per dare riprendere le chiavi si è fatto trovare al nostro arrivo (anche alla partenza) e ha fatto di tutto per farci passare una settimana senza pensieri. L'arredamento è bello e pratico. Ci ha fatto trovare dell'acqua, birra e una bottiglia di vino. La cucina era completamente attrezzata incluso delle spezie, olio, tè, caffè, detersivi e altro. Asciugamani a volontà, incluso quello per la cucina e teli per la piscina. La piscina è riscaldata e l'abbiamo usata varie volte visto il tempo bello. Stare nei divani all'aperto era rilassante perchè la casa si trova in una zona residenziale molto tranquilla. Volendo c'è anche la lavatrice con i detersivi presenti, la lavastoviglie, un forno, un forno microonde. Il wifi veloce e la doccia (più di una) è comoda e calda.

Assolutamente niente. Era tutto perfetto. Peccato che avevamo solo una settimana.

Die Ausstattung war perfekt, es fehlte an nichts! Auch das Küchenequipment war ausreichend und es gab sogar eine Zitruspresse. Bei der Ankunft fanden wir sogar noch Bier und Wasser im Kühlschrank vor.

Mir hat alles gut gefallen, es gibt nichts zu bemängeln.

Wow wow wow. I don’t even know where to start. We loved everything about it from the get go. You were hit with the wow factor right away. The handover was smooth and the place was spotless. Unlimited utensils and equipment. It really does have everything you need. We had an amazing holiday and most of it was down to the villa.

We don’t own it.
