Butterfly Space- A Non-Profit Eco-Lodge

The place is really beautiful, even in this seasson. It was my second time staying there

I was really disappointed when they wanted to charge me higher price then I booked, yet they gave me a room that is half price of what I booked… I insisted and once they agreed that i should actually pay less for a cheaper room, they started saying that they are using a different exchange rate… like sorry, but you can not make people come all the eay there and then anounce them that you made up your own exchange rate… Also the toilets stink

I really liked my stay here. It was so relaxing to be in nature. Accommodation is really nice, I extended my stay because they have a co-working space so i could work online using the wifi. I stayed in more than one chalet because the room i had was already booked, and they are all different and in their own style. The outdoor hot shower was awesome, and the toilets that they use in their tree nursery for their projects. The kitchen has tasty food- try the quesadilla...

They have a self-catering kitchen but its very basic. You have to cook on their wood stove- which is good if you can light fires! Luckily the staff helped me with this!

Perfect location set right on lake Malawi. Stunning views and surroundings as far as the eye can see. Great food in the restaurant and very friendly staff.

Can sometimes be a little noisy from town.

Butterfly Space is an amazing place to stay in nkhata bay. You get there and you feel like home. Everyone is super welcoming and the place is just beautiful like heaven on earth. The rooms are well maintained and clean, the food is amazing and the bar and deck are lovely! Can’t recommend staying here enough!

That I had to leave so soon!

Butterfly is a hidden gem. The room was cosy and quirky. The lake views were a delight and I was so comfortable. The bar and deck was probably my most favourite thing. It’s such a beautiful setting and a great place to meet fellow travellers and volunteers while watching fishermen drift pass in their dug outs.

Beautiful lodge on the shores of Lake Malawi. Very relaxing, the staff were all really friendly, and the food at the Mkana Cafe on site was excellent. Would definitely recommend taking a cooking class with the head chef!
