"A cosy, creative sanctuary in stunning Shropshire"

10.0

Such a cosy and well equipped barn conversion. The owners Kirsty and Chris were so friendly, helping out when needed and giving me advice on the local area. I was on a solo walking break, and did a 20km hike to Long Mynd direct from the barn and another lovely hike from Craven Arms to Flounders Folly. I loved the connection to Malcolm Savilles Lone Pine stories, and all the local interest books provided. A truly restorative retreat.

Only that I didn’t stay longer 😉

"A cut above - and an authentic taste of Shropshire life and hospitality"

10.0

The keys were already in the door awaiting my arrival -- I updated eta just hours before. The underfloor heating was ideal, and already switched on to fit with my arrival time, so walking in was like receiving a personal warm welcome - so different to the usual air B&Bs and hoilday lets. A very generous welcome pack, including a fresh half gallon bottle of milk in the fridge, a bottle of beer and a wine mini bottle, a selection of large packs of biscuits and crisps, as well as a range of beverages. All mod cons, including a washing machine in an adjoining utility room. Everything seemed carefully chosen to meet the needs of guests, including a selection of books connected with the area. An understated and authentic looking exterior, and a cleverly designed conversion finished to a high standard. A combination of good planning, design, execution and maintenance. Well chosen, stylish and co-ordinated fittings and fixtures, and a high featured ceiling creating a feeling of cosiness and space. I particularly liked the sense of place - on a working farm, and the connection with the history and use of the building and the farming families who have lived here. A special postcard showed an artist's impression of the buildings prior to restoration.
