The outside space is beautiful and peaceful. Swimming pool is great..

Cottage was clean and exceptionally well equipped. Dishwasher and every possible utensil you could need. Clean and enough space for a family of 4 (2 tweens). Very comfortable beds and giant bath. Fairly good wifi and Roku system for TV. Lovely view of the pond. Lovely swimming pool. Hosts were very receptive to emails. Blanket available for sitting on the sofa as it was quite cold. Hosts gave a box of shortbread on arrival and provided a small bottle of milk for a tea while we got settled. The grounds are impressively well kept and well lit. Trampoline and rope swing available, however poor weather prevented use. Ample living, cooking and bathroom space and comprehensive welcome pack provided. Parking was directly outside the cottage and vehicle could be seen from inside.

Pool access was rota’d in hour long blocks. We were allocated 1 hour at 9am and another in the afternoon. This is because the pool is a shared facility. The advert/pictures insinuate a private access pool, as does the price. We had to walk outside in the bad weather to access it, however it was a divine space inside. The hosts were relatively defensive about this- I had emailed ahead re the pool and nothing was mentioned. I did request our 2 small blocks be put together, which they were with minimal fuss, however we were limited to 2 hours through the entire stay. On New Years Eve, all water to the property was cut off. The email response I received implied that we were the only people who had experienced this and should have perhaps been asleep during this time. My children had awoken for a drink and to use the toilet, which was impossible. A further email was sent that stated that it was a normal and regularly occurring backwash process, that had not been forewarned of. It felt somewhat suspicious as once I sent the email, there were footsteps above (where the hosts reside) and the water came back on. Following this, there was increasingly loud snoring from above that prevented a good nights sleep downstairs. There was a thermostat to turn the heating up, however it didn’t really stay warm and for most of the stay we were all quite chilly, possibly just down to the fact the property has 3 outside walls and a glass front door. The kids room was small, with one bed against the radiator and the door (no space to open it fully) against the other side of the bed. We did enjoy the stay, however would have reconsidered the long drive and price if the truth of the pool was made clear.
