Villa de lujo frente al mar de Progreso

The house is gorgeous, the beach access is great. The kitchen had all the necessary tools for cooking. We were there with another couple, and it would have been a fun house with a few more people.

The hosts didn't want us to park the car inside the gate. We couldn't understand why and didn't think it was wise to park on the street as they requested as it would be the only vehicle out there and people speed down that road at night. The house is quite far from the malecon and there are very few restaurants nearby. It would have been awesome if bicycles had been included as there is a long road on the beach that goes there, but it's pretty far, and the bike rentals in town are only by the hour. The large patio doors were pretty smeary, and the cupboard doors needed to be wiped from fingerprints. They had cut down a bunch of palm trees and left piles of debris in the yard, which didn't look very nice. There were also old plastic kids toys in the back yard and on the patio. The couch outside was filthy and had big holes chewed on all the corners, which was an unwelcome contrast to the beauty of the rest of the house and furniture. The pool needed a skimmer and seemed to be leaking. They had a big 5 gallon drinking water container with an electric spout, but the battery was dead. Thankfully, we had a charger that fit, and so used that. But those are all relatively minor complaints and could be easily fixed by the owners.
