Very thoughtfully designed renovation. Extremely quiet area, hence perfect sleep. The food, both the tasting menu dinner as the included breakfast, are one of the highlights of 10 days in Italy (without having 1 bad meal that should say a lot). Guiglielmo is a great host.

What a unique stay in the heart of Abruzzo with easy access by car to the magnificent surroundings of L’Aquila and the Gran Sasso. Fontecchio is a genuine example of the true Abruzzese village. Costa Di Maggio is a very thoughtfully renovated historic building. The rooms are not your everyday style of accommodation but without a doubt had the best mattress and hairdryer in all our 3 months of travelling in Europe. The service and expertise offered by Guglielmo our host was outstanding. Don’t deny yourself the memorable fine dining experience here and allow him to take you on the journey. It goes in hand with the quality of every aspect of our stay here!

There were a few steps to reach our room, but for a two night stay it was manageable with our overnight bags.

Our stay at Costa di Maggio in Fontecchio was absolutely amazing! This beautifully restored stone building seamlessly blends historic charm with modern comforts, offering a truly unique and authentic experience. Our room was both cozy and elegantly designed, showcasing the meticulous attention to detail that went into the restoration. One of the highlights of our visit was the exceptional six-course dinner—an absolute feast! Each dish was a masterful showcase of local Abruzzese flavors, made with fresh, high-quality ingredients and presented with care. It felt like dining at a Michelin-starred restaurant, but with the warmth of a family gathering. Fontecchio itself is a hidden medieval gem, with narrow cobblestone pathways winding between ancient stone buildings. The entire town has an enchanting, almost timeless feel. The views from Costa di Maggio were nothing short of spectacular—rolling hills, lush greenery, and the stunning backdrop of the mountains. A special mention goes to the proprietor, who was incredibly kind, welcoming, and extremely helpful throughout our stay. They spoke perfect English, making our visit smooth and enjoyable, and were always ready with great recommendations and insights about the area. Their warmth and hospitality made our experience truly unforgettable. We highly recommend Costa di Maggio to anyone looking for a peaceful, authentic, and luxurious stay in one of Italy’s most charming villages.
