This review covers a 28 day stay in February 2026 for 2 adults. Weather at the beginning of Feb 2026 was extremely wind, rainy and a little cold. As a winter visit we did spend more time inside after sun goes down. This unit is sits above the bar and outdoor patio. It may be very noisy in the summer but the bar and patio are closed in the winter so we had no issues. Pool was also closed. The unit is very competitively priced for its size and location. You can walk to InterMarche supermarket, to the beach (20 min walk but it is uphill on way back) and into Alvor. There is a partial view over the water Lagos. The kitchen has all the appliances needed (dishwasher, washer, nespresso etc.) and they are in good working condition with plenty of plates/cutlery etc. for 6 or more people. The two bathrooms have good water pressure and plenty of hot water. There were two portable heaters in the bedrooms and the central unit in the living area providing enough heat as long as they are left running in the evenings. Plenty of blankets, towels etc. as would be expected for sleeping 4-6 people. Good large screen TV with enough english language channels. The one sofa in living area very comfortable – other sofa not so good – living area needs 'reading lamp' and a second chair. Adequate car parking although I do not know what summer would be like. Beds and mattresses are new and comfortable. Good wifi for streaming shows to our laptop.

The cleaning service brings in bedding and towels – the sheets on two single beds were very damp/wet and needed to be dried before use. The ceiling in one bedroom is peeling in one part leaving white dust on furniture/clothes. The other ceilings in the unit had been fixed but not the one in a bedroom. Annoying but not fatal. The windows and doors on the unit are original BUT they have major gaps the let in rain and wind when the weather is bad. They need to be replaced like what is happening with the other units in the building. The plumbing in the buildings is getting old and smells can come up pipes. This is a building problem and not necessarily something that can be done in the unit. Patio furniture needs to be replaced – old, uncomfortable, and dirty chair pads. The heavy wool blankets need to be washed. In one bathroom they still have not fixed the hot water to the sink (noted by other reviewers). The dehumidifier was 'clogged' and water went on floor and not into bucket in the machine. Other: For a canadian trying to figure out how to use some of the european appliances with strange symbols without an instruction book is frustrating – had to down load pdfs to figure them out. Check in could be simpler by just texting the lock box code AND they asked that the key be put back in lock box but they never gave us the code to it so ...

"Disappointing Experience - Unfair Security Deposit Charges"

Alvor is a beautiful place. The accommodation is a 15 minute walk from the centre and all downhill, but uphill on the way back. The flat is on the first floor and there are no lifts, so no good if you have a pram or are infirm. The pool was great but the gates were locked for the duration of our stay meaning we had to climb over, and the pool access card left in the apartment did not work. The negatives far outweigh the positives. We were charged for ‘damage’ which was trivial/none existent, e.g. leaving a glass in the freezer and moving cleaning products from under the sink to the top of the fridge so our children couldn’t reach them.

I booked this property for my family (2 adults, 2 young children) expecting basic but acceptable accommodation given the price point. Whilst the apartment was dated and worn as noted in previous reviews, the real issue came after checkout. On arrival day, we were required to pay a €150 "pre-authorisation" via an external link - not mentioned in the property policies. This was charged immediately as a full transaction, not held as a pending charge on my card. The apartment showed significant wear: broken window fixtures that wouldn't close properly, stained bedding, dated furniture (30/40 years old), and poor maintenance throughout. I documented some issues on arrival but didn't photograph everything - what a mistake! Despite following all checkout instructions perfectly - cleaning dishes, taking out rubbish, leaving on time - I was accused of "vandalism" and the full deposit was withheld. The "evidence" included: a picture frame that had fallen (it was attached with old sticky tape and already down when we arrived), a glass I left in the freezer, cleaning products I'd moved away from my toddlers, minor chocolate marks on sofa blankets (washable), and supposed damage to extremely old furniture that showed obvious wear and tear. The kitchen was frequented by an ant infestation. Most concerning was being charged for a chair we never used - it was in the corner with cushions on it our entire stay. The alleged damage appeared to be age-related deterioration. The host's message promised the deposit would be "automatically released 3-4 days after checkout" for quality control, with charges "only in case of damages." Instead, they kept the full amount for normal wear on ancient furniture and non-issues. I've stayed in dozens of properties over ten years without incident. This felt like an unjust money grab. Avoid if you value fair treatment.

2 huge pools, a great little snack bar that also serve English breakfast, alcohol & snacks all day. I would avoid the restaurant on the opposite side of the complex called restaurant algar or Albar or something similar, it’s ok but very plain. Everywhere was very clean, the apartment was SO spacious, 2 baloncies, view of the pool. Staff were very friendly, it’s only around €4 euros which is about £3 to get a uber to Alvôr centre, or use BOLT they’re also good.

Nothing! Apart from I lift which I struggled with, only was on 1st floor but I have limited mobility
