The Westgate Retreat

I booked and paid for the room,I was delighted as it was a snowy night&I was at a function just up the road . It wasn't particularly cheap but location wise it was spot on . Later that evening I got a message saying it was no longer available &they didn't know why. I've no confirmation that my money was returned or any explanation.

Comfortable bed, excellent heating, pleasant outlook from the front window, easy stroll to pubs, restaurants, mini mart and supermarket. Off street parking was a big plus.

No towels provided until we requested them. We stayed 6 nights and were left only a few sheets of toilet paper. Very few paper towels. Potato peeler was broken, oven didn't work. The iron's plate was covered in muck that stuck to clothing and was unusable. Located in an overgrown junkyard, which doesn't feel great when approaching, leaving or looking out the side windows. Has been partly updated to be quite nice, but probably not 'modern', as advertised.

Very clean and tidy, had all the amenities we needed, bed was very comfortable.

Good lounge area for relaxing in. Large window for morning sunshine. Nice kitchen and bedroom. Very handy for Co Op store and local bus to Bradford. Very quiet at night

No bedroom mirror. Limited storage area for clothes if you are staying more than a day or two.

A spacious apartment in the middle of this compact village. Set back and on the first floor in a builders yard, so little traffic noise. The basics were all at hand and the bed was comfy.

As we arrived in the evening we tried for 20 minutes in the torchlight , tired and hungry, to get in. The PIN code was not working and the hostess didn’t answer the phone. We finally got hold of her and it turned out that the pincode given in Booking.com was the wrong one. She mentioned she had a lot of problems with booking recently, but it would have been appropriate in that case for her to make sure we had the right pincode in the first place. As we were leaving we had forgotten the pincode again, checking the information map a pincode was mentioned which sounded faintly like the initial one, but again, this information was outdated. By sending her a message we than found out. Albeit her saying: ‘she had said it loud and clearly’ Bit rude. Shame. This let it down. Together with the old and not so clean fridge.

Nice location. Spacious and easy parking.

Everything! Well appointed, the hosts have obviously taken a lot of time to work out what guests need. It is spotlessly clean and the family are close by, and ready to help, whether it is something you need or advice on what to do whilst in the area. I am definitely returning! The apartment is exactly as in the host's photos, so I have posted some pictures of historic bits of Baildon instead of the flat.

Can't think of a thing that I didn't like

The apartment was spacious and very clean. The bed was very comfortable.
