Top Living Apartments - Porta Susa

Location was good (but noise from building work on weekdays). The apartment was contemporary in style in an old building. The kitchen and bathroom were good and heating and hot water supply excellent. There was a good supermarket just round the corner on Via Vassalli - bread OK for breakfast but didn't open until 8.30am. In the park on Via Duchessa Jolanda where it meets Via Principi d' Acaja there was a very good but busy Saturday market (not far from the apartment). It wasn't far to walk to Porta Susa where you can get the train to the airport and about 20 minutes or so to walk to Piazza Castello. Communications pre our visit and afterwards were good.

We had issues with the key and the lock to the main wooden door, which was the access for the 10 or so apartments in the building. We met residents who also found the lock tricky. The key we were provided with (in a key box by the wooden door) was not the key described in the instructions. When the initial, flimsy key broke off in the lock (luckily extracted by a resident we assume) we were eventually provided with the key which did match the instructions which was a little easier to use but by no means perfect. However, we were upset by the response about the key getting broken in the lock which simply said we would have to pay and a locksmith wouldn't be available for almost 4 hours! We were provided with 1 set of keys only( 3 keys altogether) which for 3 of us with different plans was limiting. For example, if one or two of us wanted to sleep in, the two internal doors could not be locked because, if we then wanted to go out or had to get out of the building in an emergency, we obviously couldn't be locked in. We believe that at least 2 sets of keys should be provided for an apartment which can accommodate 3 people. It would have been extremely useful to have known which button to press for our apartment at the main door. It wasn't obvious and you don't want to disturb others unnecessarily. We did ask but didn't get an answer in good time. We felt we were misled by the description and photographs of the apartment we thought we were getting mainly because we had expected 1 double bedroom and a living room with a sofabed. Our apartment comprised a kitchen diner, a double bedroom, a single bedroom (cannot be described as a living room as it was tiny nor could the narrow single bed really be described as a sofa bed) and a bathroom. There were TVs in both bedrooms but you would have had to watch TV from the bed.

Exactly as described, everything extremely clean and organized. Not so difficult to find parking nearby.

Neighbor above is a little noisy, but nothing that bothers too much.

The apartment has a great location (ten minutes walk from both Porta Susa train station and the central bus terminal of Torino; close to the city center as well). It's big and spacious, very comfortable for six people, with big and equipped kitchen. It has a great value for the price.
