Grand Pioneers Halong Bay Cruise 2

Everything was professionally done from the welcome center/waiting area, boat that takes you to yacht, luggages waiting at your room. Boat is impressive one year new. Food was excellent, opinion from a Vietnamese ex-pat. Pho was delicious. Staff was very responsive. Two excursions were excellent. Most luxurious boat @ Halong Bay

Checking in is a breeze, there is dedicated lounge area to wait before boarding. Staff are friendly and helpful. The ship is in excellent condition, clean and roomy. Good selection also good across meals. Highly recommended to take an overnight cruise in Halong bay

The facilities and room are great! Best shower! Food is nice and events are pretty well planned.

The boarding was delayed and in turn causing lunch to be delayed. Too hungry and upset our stomach for the entire stay.

Ants! Unfortunately we had ants in our room. We let the cruise manager know and they insisted on cleaning and implied we had bought them onboard with us in my ziplock bag of snacks (impossible). As we only had 2 nights on the boat celebrating a special occasion I didn’t want to waste precious time dealing with the inconvenience so left them to clean and surprise surprise the ants were back within a hour or so, we tracked down the manager asking to be moved. By dinner service they attempted to move us to a smaller room, and we declined the down grade! They finally moved us to a like for like room however it was 10pm by this stage and it definitely ruined what should’ve been a seamless experience! I might add plenty of rooms were available as only 11 of the 55 cabins were booked.

I’ve done multiple Ha Long cruises and I’ve stayed on traditional sail boats but this is my first luxury yacht experience. I enjoyed it so much, I’m considering going on a cruise now. Modern & new design, roomy suites, generous food inclusions with very friendly staff, we thoroughly enjoyed our 3D2N sail. I wouldn’t do the 2D1N sail as I felt it was too rushed especially when you consider the drive time from Hanoi and the timing slots of the off boat activities meant the attractions weren’t crowded with passengers from other boats. I feel the itinerary is very carefully planned. Would recommend & rebook if ever travelling again to Ha Long Bay. Shout out to Kevin our waiter who was very attentive and a main reason for our enjoyable experience.

The only negative was the wifi. We are digital nomads and it was impossible to stay connected. Signal strength is only manageable when the boat is anchored and not moving. Staff were very helpful when trying to sort wifi issues and even offered to hotspot off their mobile data, however for this cruise to be world class, reliable wifi is a must. I would recommend buying an eSIM and toggling between mobile data and wifi to ensure you’re always connected.
