"Quite utterly horrible - never again"

1.0

Nothing positive of note. A truly attrocious experience from the outset. Check-in was from 4pm onwards, and the claimed restaurant (being in the pub next door) stopped serving food at 4pm. Despite the listing on Booking.com, no breakfast is offered. The woman we met in the pub car park who seemed to represent the property was dismissive of my requests and spoke to me as though I was a fool, and her best suggestion was a six-mile round trip to get a dinner. There is only one room at the property, and it's door opens directly onto a gravelled car park. There is no entrance lobby to provide privacy.

The listing on Booking.com is grossly misleading. Examples: CLAIM: "The Old Cart Shed in Norfolk offers highly rated bed and breakfast rooms with private bathrooms, terraces, and modern amenities including TV, electric kettle, and tea and coffee maker". FACT: There is only one room and no breakfast is offered. There is a kettle and a shower, no coffee maker or bath. CLAIM: "Guests can enjoy a restaurant and bar, relax in the garden, and utilise the terrace for outdoor activities". FACT: Not during our stay. The garden is a miserable roofed-over area in front of the room, provided with a dilapidated table and chair and an ashtray. The pub next door shut at 7pm, we did not see the terrace. MORE: There are no staff on site. There is no service of any kind. The cord for the roller blind has a huge loop of surplus chain, this is incredibly dangerous to a child. The shower door does not close. The heated towel rail is falling off the wall. The property is hopelessly overpriced for a room without breakfast or any other facilities or services. I get no pleasure from writing a bad review but the representative of the property we met is so unapproachable and so dismissive there is no obvious alternative.

"Lovely nights stay"

9.0

Good location for us, the room was comfortable and cosy, lovely hot and powerful shower - Cheryl and Ian are lovely hosts so welcoming, we had a lovely meal at the pub, the pies and cromer crab were delicious and all at very reasonable prices.

The only slight negative was I missed a mirror in the bedroom for drying my hair as there is only one in the bathroom and obviously no electrical points in there.

"Overpriced, unhelpful, unwelcoming"

5.0

The location was convenient.

Although the price paid might indicate breakfast there was no breakfast provided and so therefore it was overpriced. £50 - £55 would have been a reasonable price to charge for what was on offer. I arrived on a walking trip. I asked owner where I might go and eat and was told everywhere was a drive away. When I explained I was walking there was literally no interest but simply an off the cuff remark that there was a premier shop down the road as they walked away - it turned out the shop had nothing I could eat as there was no microwave in the room. The owner didn't even bother to tell me that I could at least get some breakfast from the bakers up the road which opened at 630 the following morning. I discovered that as I happened to be walking in that direction. A very poor and unhelpful welcome.

Very convenient location for my trip. Pleasant atmosphere and friendly people at the adjoining Queen of Hearts.
