After driving 6 hours to Memphis from Knoxville. We arrived at house around 7 pm. The house did not appear the same as advertised online. There was a large tree that hid the front of the house,making the house not visible. The house looked scary. The front porch was dirty with cigarette butts. I had to sweep it. Five minutes upon our arrival, the next door neighbor started to solicit and try to sell us homemade jewelry. Inside the house smelled moldy and unventilated. When we started to put our food in the freezer we found cockroaches in the fridge. The bathtub had soap scum and dirt with unidentified hair. The vent located immediately outside the bathroom was filled with dust. Also, keys were needed to access the going in and out of the house. This was not a normal house lock. We were stressed because we had to look for a last minute place to stay which caused us unnecessary stress and $400 more.

I love the backyard.

We had the most wonderful stay! The home was very well kept, clean, and welcoming. We were very impressed from the moment we walked in the door. The rooms were nicely decorated and the furniture was comfortable. The neighborhood was nice and quiet. The hosts were amazing, very professional and quick to respond when I had a question.

The location was great, and the street was quiet. We were close to everything we were hoping to see in Memphis.

The host had a litany of very specific rules (you can't adjust thermostat warmer than 68, you can't use the washer and dryer without explicit permission, you can't have any locals on the property at any time etc). I am a rule follower and when the host was not responsive to my questions during the stay, it meant that I didn't know if we could allow our the family we were visiting to come inside when we were in between daily adventures, and when my daughter threw up in the middle of the night I didn't know whether I could wash her clothing and bedding. The home is a renovated bungalow, but it is drafty (68 felt pretty cool in some areas of the home) and it smelled old, and all of our clothes when we left smelled accordingly. The towels were ragged and worse than anything that you could purchase from a big box store.

It was in a decent area. Like it had gated doors.

The layout of the house was very odd. The bedrooms didn’t have locks on them. One bedroom was connected to another one without a lock.
