Arrived at 9pm at the apartment to be told there was no record of my booking. Called the owner to be told that he asked Booking.com to cancel my booking weeks ago! Could not contact Booking.com to see what on earth was going on, as my booking was shown as live and payment has been taken. No contact from them at all, and the owner said he could do nothing. Had to walk around Birmingham in the rain trying to get a hotel room. Horrendous experience.
