Renovated 16th Century House in Valletta

Centrally located in the old town and authentic. Washing machine.

You have to weigh up the benefits of staying in 16th century accommodation which had an initial attraction vs being able to savour the views and warmth that Malta offers. Suggest this is best for the tourist as a short term stay of two days only before you move on elsewhere. Windowless (we kept the front door open), and second bedroom access via winding staircase

Really special place that gave me a unique experience during my first visit to Malta. The stone interior is full of charm and it’s been tastefully renovated to be functional. Although there are no windows due to how old the building is, a lot of thought has gone into the layout and position of lighting. The location was excellent, 5 minutes walking to the heart of Valletta.

A little more attention could be paid to the cleaning around the shower and light fittings (but this is a minor grumble). It was a little tricky to find at first, off the main street and down some steps, so I’ve included some pictures, if it helps.

Great facilities and location

Great location with cute stairs leading to a second bedroom. The house remains cool despite the warm temperature outside. The room remains dark during the day, which makes it good for light sensitive sleepers. Very clean. Parking is available on the public streets nearby.

The room had too little natural light on the ground floor, which was good for sleeping but it made the room feel humid and it felt like we were missing the sunny day. There was still plenty of lights in the rooms that we could use. The bathroom has a sliding door that does not close 100% but does the job.

Lovely old building with tasteful modernisations including aircon. Just off the beaten track but short walk into main streets of Valletta. Perfect position as not too noisy. Corner shop handy for any provisions required.

Lovely to look at and a great stay but word of warning for elderly/infirm! Several steps into house and upper floor reached by narrow ancient spiral stairs. Fine for us but may be a consideration...
