"This was our first time staying at Thurston Manor and overall were happy with our choice of venue."

7.0

This particular caravan was sited well away from, although within a fairly easy walk of, the Reception, Restaurant and shop. The van was very clean given that it is dog friendly. Living area/Kitchen was comfortable with plenty of seating, particularly since there were only two adults and our dog staying. Having a shower room with toilet and a second toilet was very useful. Easy to reach Dunbar within 10 minutes by car to access local shopping etc. On-site restaurant food was very good and could be ordered for eating in the restaurant or as takeaway.

We are both in our mid-seventies and my wife has medical and mobility issues, as a result finding that the bedrooms were so restricted in space caused some issues. There was barely room to move sideways along either side of the double bed and it was only slightly better in the two single bed rooms. If booking again will need to ensure that a two bedroom van is booked as this would allow more space to be shared between rooms. Although rooms had cupboards and drawers for clothing it would have been useful to have some hooks to hang things up behind doors - even in the toilet/shower room for towels etc. We have had our own static caravan in the past and so are used to caravan living but I will be very careful about the size of van booked in future.

"The beds are not really long enough. Could do with a lamp in the bedroom."

You are pet friendly yet you can't take pets into the shop or the entertainment area. It would be helpful if you could leave pet in the accommodation for a short time because as a family of 4 we could not all go swimming because someone had to stay with dog!!

"Quiet, pleasant stay, ideal for families"

8.0

The property overall was good value for money and in a quiet location. It’s close to Dunbar and the A1 making it easy to get to different places. Bedding was clean and there is a full size fridge and freezer.

There were a couple of things needed attention in the caravan- nothing major just door handles needing tightened up and the soda cushions could do with being taken off and washed due to it being pet friendly there was a little hair and a slight smell of dog around the sofa area but overall the van was cleaner than I expected for a pet friendly van. A fan would be useful when it’s warm- it gets very hot in the van. We didn’t really use the bar, restaurant or pool but the kids did use the arcade. There was no sign up to say when the shop for redeeming arcade tickets was open which would have been useful.. instead I was told we could just ask at the bar and someone would open it. It happened to be open already when we were in on our last night. The young girl serving us was helpful but we then felt rushed by who I assume was the bar manager basically telling us to hurry up as he needed to close it again as the bar area was busy even though we had only just gotten there. If there were set obvious times to open it, it might have made everyone’s lives a little easier.
