Hamilton - Lord William

Had a lovely stay at this apartment. It was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed for a great visit.

Not much was positive but at a push, the proportion of the bedrooms and the living area were spacious and the car park always had space.

We parked up in the car park and the overflowing bins scattered around the car park, coupled with the type of people milling around, made it feel like the some of the Hamilton building was being used for cheap long term lets. The location is directly on a busy A road which, you will understand is more of a pain when you face the massive problems we had with the accommodation, detailed below. The entrance isn't secured and so, if you are bringing a dog, you have to be careful to watch they don't run onto the road. The main overriding issue was the absolutely overwhelming stench of damp as you walk into the accommodation. I'm not a fussy person. I travel a lot for work and pleasure. But, this is by far the most uncomfortable place I have stayed, as for 3 nights, the damp and mould smell made me feel sick, and penetrated the entire place and our clothes. I woke up gagging at 2am on the first evening as the bedsheets, and even our skin, stank of strong mould. I took time to write an email to the owners in the middle of the night, to express the seriousness of the situation, but they didn't respond (they were away). I followed up twice with Booking.com, but they didn't respond to Booking.com either so, I have discovered that Booking.com are pretty impotent. I asked on the first night, to move to one of the other apartments that didn't smell or to receive a partial refund. No response. We would have left within 5 mins, but because we had our mini labradoodle, our choices were limited as we had to be close to the wedding we were attending on the 2nd evening. We had to keep the windows open to get fresh air circulating. Only the ones in the living area opened. These allowed dozens of large flies to come in and the relentless traffic noise. In addition to this, there was mould around all the showers and cobwebs everywhere. The kitchen had no towel or the basic condiments mentioned in their advert like salt and oil.

Location was good. Property a good size. Host very friendly and helpful.

Damp is clearly a problem in Lord William. Evidence of leaks on walls and ceilings. Has a damp musty smell and cleaning needs to be better. Cobwebs and flies are being missed and needs better maintenance. No welcome pack, instructions on WiFi etc.

The accommodation was actually more beautiful than what it portray on the website . Had our own entry and was able to communicate with with host when needed.

Comfy beds and pillows , nice open living and kitchen area. Good shower.

Hallway entrance was drab and unkempt. 1 of the double bedrooms was cold and smelt of damp - that room should not be let out in it's current state .. also it's en suite bathroom had no door . The whole place smelt musty and not properly clean. There were cobwebs, the bathroom floors were clearly not cleaned properly - they were particularly grubby around the sides of the toilet. The place should accommodate 6 but there were a lack of cups, glasses and plates and general cooking equipment. Also the dining table and chairs only accommodated 4 people No tea towel No tea towel ,the lid on the 1 x kitchen bin ( they mentioned there were 2 in the instructions) was broken, clothes rails held together with tape.. and limited to 1 loo roll per bathroom.!!! A lot of these same comments have been mentioned before , but clearly the owners have not taken this feedback on board - that speaks volumes .

Cheap for a 2 night stay.

Bedrooms were damp woke up with clothes feeling wet, apartment wasn’t fully cleaned still traces from the last occupants, no light bulbs in hallway, one toilet roll per bathroom, clothes rail broken and taped together, obvious that renovations had just been done as there was plaster and paint spills on walls that had not been cleaned as well as a large 110V transformer in store cupboard still, toilet brush was filthy and still swimming in faeces.

Spacious and lovely and clean had everything we could need

Comfortable beds, good location and 3 lovely bathrooms. Spacious apartment.

The property has the potential to be a great luxury stay, but it is unfortunately not finished. One of the bedrooms flooring had rusty nails sticking out and electrical wiring hanging out from sockets. The communal entrance was dirty and full of cobwebs. The bedrooms at the back smelled musty/moldy.
