Villa Katerina - Soroni

Nice pool

The location is next to a power station. Not shown in advertising. The property itself is like 2 separate apartments. Unable to access main house from basement rooms. Not ideal for young families, as if you needed to get to either of the apartments there aren’t enough keys. Keys needed to be kept in light switch to maintain electric, unlocking door to get out at night put you into darkness. Bathrooms small and badly equipped. Rubbish left outside, Dirty stained sun loungers, ants everywhere inside. However when landlord was contacted he did provide covers for loungers ( on 5th day of a week):and told us ant spray in cupboards (empty) The landlord was approachable.

Villa est comme sur les photos, la maison était propre, le service de nettoyage de la piscine et de la maison est un gros plus. La villa est à la fois éloignée et à la fois à proximité de tout. Le personnel est sympathique et a répondu à toutes nos demandes avant nos vacances. La maison se trouve dans une rue peu fréquenté, la mer de soroni beach est à 10 min à pied ce qui est un plus. La villa se trouve à 15 min de l'aéroport ce qui est également un vrai plus.

Nous avons rencontré un problème avec la climatisation d'une chambre à l'étage après 4 jours. Nous avons signalé le problème le lundi. Un technicien devait venir le jour même, mais n'est venu que le lendemain. Finalement, le problème n'a pas été résolu. La chambre montait à 31 degrés, ce qui était intenable. Un appareil à glaçons a été donné, mais n'a servi à rien. Nous avons donc dormi pendant 5 jours dans le canapé-lit, qui n'est pas vraiment confortable et qui ne correspond pas à mes attentes pour le budget donné pour cette location. Je conseille au propriétaire d'investir dans une climatisation portable afin de pouvoir proposer une vraie solution. La maison doit également être plus sécurisée pour les enfants. La devanture n'est pas fermée par un portail, ce qui oblige à avoir un œil permanent sur les enfants.

The rep (Agnieszka) met us within 30 minutes of arrival, gave a full tour of the property and went through the house rules. The property was spotless & more than adequately equipped for 5 adults for the week. She offered to send on restaurant recommendations & places to visit, which she did via WhatsApp the next day. This was very much appreciated. The villa is a short walk from Soroni, which is a small village. There are some lovely local restaurants but we also travelled by hire car to Rhodes Town, Lindos, Ialysos to visit some old family favourites. The location is ideal for self catering & relaxing away from the hustle and bustle. We had a couple of homemade lunches & dinners at the villa, after stocking up at the nearest Lidl. The nearby beach, just 500m away, provided a nice spot for morning walks.

There was only one key for each section of the house, and the keys were attached to the electricity fob. Not such an issue for the basement section, but for the main house it was a bit of an issue at night as you would have to knock off the power & cross the dark living room to lock the front door. There was some small war & tear on the insect netting on the patio doors, which may have contributed to the amount of mosquitos we found, but the electric zapper we found in the cupboard helped!!

The Villa is modern and stylish with good facilities when they are working.

We had a few problems during our stay. The main issue was the lack of hot water. We had none for the first 2 days and partial for the rest of our stay. This was a bit of a problem for the children. Also, it wasn’t clear before we booked that it’s two separate properties in essence. There are 2 bedrooms in the basement but they cannot be accessed without going outside. If we had a different configuration of adults and children this would’ve been a problem. Lastly the location was more remote than we anticipated and the bus service in April is not frequent enough. A car is definitely needed for this property.

Lovely house. Great location short drive from airport close to beach shops and restaurants. The house was really comfortable well equipped and nice pool. Will definitely be booking again
