Maison Manendra - Bromo

The hostel is in a marvellous location about 2.5km down a narrow single track road in an elevated position with great rural views all around. The hosts Rani and Oussama are passionate about making your visit the best it can be. Their Bromo tour is organised on a different itinerary to almost everyone else avoiding the worst of the tourist crowds and was most enjoyable. There are several peaceful hikes around the property which makes the most of its great location. Rooms are simple but very spacious, there is a comfortable bed, warm water always available for the shower and decent wifi. Meals are taken on the rooftop terrace on a large shared table offering the opportunity to meet fellow travellers from the world. Breakfast is individually served and is quite substantial comprising eggs, toast, fresh fruit, tea or coffee. Dinner is served buffet style and as with all services offers excellent value. Hot drinks available 24 hours a day.

Een prachtige plek wanneer je de Bromo wil bezoeken. Het eten is heerlijk en de eigenaren zijn super vriendelijk. Alles was goed georganiseerd. We vonden het jammer dat we maar één nachtje konden blijven!

No tengo palabras para describir la hermosa experiencia que vivimos. Maison Manendra es un concepto bastante único, no solo por el entorno que lo hace muy especial, porque está rodeada de naturaleza alejada de todo, sino por el servicio que brinda y la pasión de los dueños. Esta todo muy organizado, el desayuno, almuerzo y cena son increíbles y muy abundantes, el menú está establecido, pero vale la pena cada comida. Le podría más puntaje pero no hay, gracias x todo!!!

Maison Manendra is not only a hotel/guesthouse but a whole concept. The rooms are big and comfortable with an ensuite bathroom with a warm water shower. The food is good and portions are generous. You mostly eat at a big table with other guests but if you don't like it you are not forced to socialize. After dinner, Rani and Oussama ask what you are planning to do the next day. If you are planning to do the Bromo walking tour and other guests like to join, you share a car (and the cost of it)... or not if you prefer to go alone. We had the chance to share cars for the Bromo walking tour and for the Tumpak Sewu waterfall and could cut the cost and have a good time with fellow travellers. Rani and Oussama offer solutions for most of your travelling problems: transportation to Maison Manendra from Malang, Bromo Tour without other people around you, tour to Tumpak Sewu with a fantastic guide, taxi to Surabaya... and many more. Rani and Oussama travel a lot in and out of Indonesia and are well aware of what you need during your Java trip. If you are looking for luxury, it is not the place for you. As for myself, I got far more than I expected. Merci Rani et Oussama, c'était absolument super!

De plek is het beste wat je kan krijgen als je voor de echte Indonesië ervaring gaat! Midden in de natuur waar je uitkijkt op prachtige vergezichten. Daarnaast zijn Rani en haar familie super gast vrij en zorgen heel goed voor je! Ook de excursies en transfers kunnen hun top voor je regelen!

Echt een super plek mooi hoog in de bergen. De kamers waren schoon en comfortabel. Wij hebben de Bromo tour gedaan en dit was super geregeld! Dit is niet de standaard tour waardoor je op de plekken komt voor de drukte. De eigenaren erg gastvrij. En het eten echt fantastisch! Zou deze plek absoluut aanraden.

Very welcoming and friendly owners and staff. Perfect recommendations for volcano and waterfall trips (do it! It is amazing!). Delicious and varied dinners. The price could not possibly be better, I would rate it 12/10.
