If you are looking for a very friendly and helpful host, who speaks good English, Lani is one of the best. He was in contact with me via Whatsapp the day before my arrival and right to the point of time he greeted me outside "Chambre Lani." The room with an outside bathroom was just ideal for me. The room had a lovely firm double bed with mosquito net, 2 nightables, a large bureau for clothes, a padded lounging chair, a small collapsible table and chair, a floor fan and satellite tv with channels from all over Africa. As well is a nice small balcony overlooking the street. The bathroom is on the otherside of the common living area but is private and contains a sink and mirror, shower with hot water and toilet. Depending on your residence mates, this may be a bit inconvenient but for me was not an issue at all. The common area contains a separate kitchen with a propane stove, sink and microwave with pots and pans for you to prepare your own meals. There is also a small table where you can eat and where your breakfast is laid out in the morning (basic tea/coffee and bread). Wifi is available and I had a strong signal in my room. The location of the chambre is very convenient, within a 5 minute walk to the Auchan grocery store as well as bank ATM's. Avenue Generale de gaulle can get very busy in the early evening with sidewalk vendors and cooks getting many customers but be careful in the crowds because pickpockets might go after your phone. It is also not a long walk to get to the island to see the many tourist sites. I very much enjoyed my stay at "Chambre Lani" and would certainly return. One thing to be aware is it is a three story walk up stairs which could be inconvenient if you have lots of luggage. I would definitely stay here again should I return to St. Louis.

Owner very good , explained to me everything in detail. 15 minutes walk from the old town area, Clean flat.

No air conditioning but ok. The owner arranged a taxi driver , but the taxi driver cheated me , so, no one should not use his taxi (Moussa ) The owner arranged with the taxi driver Moussa for door to service to Dakar for 10000 CFA. In the morning , he applied the first trick, instead of picking me from the hotel, he said I should take another taxi and go to his location. Owner intervened and made him come to the hotel. Then I noticed, all other passengers he collected money only at the end , but with me he collected midway as he was hatching a plan. One hour before Dakar , he said will not go to Dakar, instead he will drop me at a taxi station midway and I pay and take another taxi to Dakar. Disgusting cheating fellow and in the taxi he was speaking about Ramadan and fasting and doing exactly bad things. Owner apologised for his wrong doings. I am attaching photo of the taxi details, so you customers can avoid this taxi.

The location is great, there are little shops, banks and the big supermarket in the vicinity. The room is clean, bright and spacious. Well, the others are a bit smaller and have the bathroom inside. Mine was big, but with the private bathroom outside. And the owner Lani is a bliss. He is extremely helpful, there is nothing he would not be willing to help you with. The communication with him prior to arrival was absolutely great. He speaks French, English and Spanish fluently. He walked an older gentleman to the bank, he explained everything about the tours, transportation, how to get to certain places and the last day he even brought us to the main terminal with his car. It happened that we were 4 people from different rooms that left on the same day.

Clean, well decorated. Central location. Good Wi-Fi. Large room. Friendly, helpful host. Good value.
