Private Room in a Grand House

The house was clean. And not a bad walk to the T.

The bathroom situation is ok. There are 2 bathroooms. The area around the train station is run down. A lot of panhandling.

One bathroom for four rooms wasn't great, but we knew that in advance. Also, though the other guests were very quiet and pleasant, the door locks were very loud at night. But, it is an old house.

Selim was kind and personable. He provided us with everything we needed to have a lovely stay. As soon as we walked in, we were astonished by the amount of space our room had. The neighborhood was quiet, even on the weekends, and though we only rented the room out instead of the whole house, we felt we had plenty of privacy and safety. We even had our own keylock on the door. We could not have had a better stay.

There was a code to get in. No need to formally check in.

I thought this was going to be a bed-and-breakfast type of situation. But you are renting a room at someone’s house. There is no privacy. There were two guys who were constantly in the kitchen. And you had to go through the kitchen to use the bathroom. It really felt like they were always in the kitchen : / It would be helpful if there was more guidance on some things like turning on the lights in the kitchen. I had to use a flashlight on my phone when we first arrived because it was very difficult finding the light switch to get to the bathroom.. I was there with my teenage daughter. And it felt uncomfortable. This type of situation was not worth paying $400 for two nights. I will not return here. BTW, the review from 5/14/24 shows pictures of a different house. THAT IS NOT THIS HOUSE! The photo i'm sharing is the real house and it ain't grand : /

The owner was very accommodating and helpful. It is a beautiful home and well taken care of. Although the rooms are rented privately, it does not feel anonymous. I would definitely stay here again!

I stayed over a weekend and understandably there were other folks staying there. As it is a house, it could be a bit noisy at times, but not annoying

Way overpriced for a little room way outside of downtown. I paid less for a hotel room in NYC by Penn station! I guess Boston is supposed to be really expensive. I'm never visiting Boston again. Some good sites but once is enough at these prices

Easy walk to T, vibrant neighborhood, lovely Jamaica pond a short stroll away

Could benefit from some wd 40the bedroom door hinge!
