Kitanokaze Saryo (Adult Only)

The only good thing about this stay was the relaxing atmosphere and the attention to detail in the food.

It was insanely expensive, about $1000/night and it was not worth that high price. The “spa” was such a let down. I booked massages thinking (based on the website’s menu) that they’d be in a facility with fancy oils. I was shocked when they sent two older ladies to come to our room to massage us. They had us lay down on our uncomfortable beds with our clothes and proceeded to “massage.” However it was more like pats with a cloth for 90 mins in various contorted positions that left my neck stiff. I was so upset and disappointed by this stay. I booked one night for our wedding anniversary and last night in Japan thinking it would be a relaxing end to the trip. Unfortunately it was such a let down. I wish I just booked a fancy hotel in tokyo with a spa for this amount of money. It would’ve been much more convenient too, considering how much of a trek it is to get to this location in Hakone. UGH.

Nothing I disliked.

This stay was absolutely incredible. The property is secluded and quiet. While I sure there were other guests at the spa I didn’t see anyone else. Relaxing and private

Getting a cab can be tricky and you might need to take a bus. It’s fairly easy but can get crowded especially if you have a large suitcase.

The rooms and the service. The food was amazing. A true experience. The complimentary lounge drinks was exceptional. You definitely get your money worth

It is easy to get to the hotel.

The AC was not working properly. The staff just reassured us that it was working and we should wait. However, we waited for hours and hours and it still didn’t cool down. I had to open the window to let in the cool air. Despite having a window screen, mosquitoes still manage to enter the room.
