Y Gribyn - Modern stone cottage within Snowdonia's National Park

Cute self contained cabin / cottage opposite the host's main house which was the village school in former days. Set in a truly spectacular location on the side of a small mountain opposite Cader Idris. Amazing walks from the back of the house up to a farm and moorland which gives on to wonderful views of Cader and surrounding 360 degree views of South Eryri National Park. The hosts, Ingrid and Andrew, were welcoming and informative, providing a folder containing printed maps of the local walks and were readily available if we had any needs. The cottage was also very close to the Mawddach trail and estuary, (a half hour walk) and the rest of Snowdonia within easy driving distance. A wonderful stay and hope to visit again soon.

Really nothing, but perhaps a couple of folding chairs would have been great for the folding table as we prefer eating at a table. You can eat outside if you wish but other than moving the bedside tables which double as stools, or bringing the outside chairs inside, you would have to sit on the sofa to eat. A kind of small shelf above the bathroom sink to put the soap would be handy. It's all very small and compact, a bit like staying in a large camper van, but I found it charming!

Location is amazing and the cabin has everything one needs for a few days. We liked it very much.

When arriving the heating was not sufficiently turned on. Hence it felt a little wet. When leaving for the day, you’re also asked to lower the temperature which makes it impossible to get rid of this wetness in the colder months.

Awesome location,so peaceful and quiet. Everything I needed and close enough to town for supplies.

Bathroom sink is tiny and prone to soak the toilet roll if turned full on by mistake . But there is limited space in the bathroom for a larger sink .

Very nice isolated location, with a slightly tricky, steep, twisty lane to negotiate.

Location was lovely, peaceful and was in front of a well known mountain. The river near by was a lovely touch for walking the dog in the mornings.

the only thing we liked was the secluded location

threadbare rug on red brick floor tiles. scruffy units.extremely small bathroom and poorly decorated rooms..very very basic..not worth the money we paid. photos looked far better than actuality..warning notice of condensation. if you like basic and not fussy then it's good for you..we booked for four nights..stayed one and booked into a nearby hotel for the remaining days..

Efficient heating in cold, wet weather. Excellent shower and kitchen appliances.

Detergent & handwash - very small amount provided. No spare toilet roll.
