All was perfect. Feby was a very nice host who did everything to enjoy us our 3 days with her and her family. Feby helped us to find sim card, cash at Atm, transportation from the train station in Padang or to the airport. She was all the time very funny and smiling! We very liked our holidays with this nice and beautiful Family of 4👌 We also cooked popcorn with Feby;-) It was a very friendly place to stay some days before and after the Mentawai trips.

We stayed 2nights in Padang before a trip to see Mentawai tribes. FEBY, the manager of 3 homestay in Padang, welcomed us at the train station with her husband and little son, near the guesthouse. She helped us to find a sim card and cash. Very helpful lady! We communicate easily in English by WhatsApp. We took a dinner together with her family. Nice ambiance with a lot of smiles. We will plan to come back 2nights in 1 week after Mentawai trip. The guesthouse is well maintained with fridge and drink water. The beds are comfortable and there is clim in the room. Very recommend place in Padang. We were by family with kid.

We have stayed at Barrel Homestay for 3 nights now. We had seen all the positive reviews and were optimistic. We arrived at 6 am and they were kind enough to give us the room at this time. This is when the good service ended

The receptionist ran up to make sure the room was okay before checking us in but when we got up there were spider webs on the ceiling and old potato chips on the floor. We had a room with a window that had definitely not been cleaned in a month. The sink by the bathroom had old hairs and mold in it. The soap was empty during all of our stay. The bathroom walls were nasty with grease. There was no toiletpaper. The corridor were all the rooms were, was in the same condition. There is a kitchen and a fridge you can use during your stay. On the first day I asked the staff, who was responsible for the cleaning of the sink and fridge, since it had old food in it, and he said he was. For the 4 days we stayed it was never cleaned. Furthermore there was an entire colony of ants on the cutting board. We talked to the owner who said she has had it for only two months. She said she didn't have money to renovate, but apparently she also does not have money to hire staff that cares about the cleanliness of the place. They stayed on their phones all the time and never took time to accommodate our requests (eg. Filling the soap) Overall it is a very cheap place to stay, but I wouldn't even say it is worth the money. Go here if you don't have money for anything else. Otherwise you should upgrade to somewhere better.
