"A lovely house, on a quiet street in downtown Newburyport."

10.0

Downtown Steps to Waterfront (Newburyport) was an excellent find for us--two seniors, two younger adults, and their son. It was right downtown, with a parking space (not a given in Newburyport!) and within an easy walk to great places to eat and to shop. We used to live about a half-hour from the town, and always have found it charming and the businesses and people gracious and accommodating. As for the property itself, it has two good bedrooms, a full bath upstairs and a half downstairs; the kitchen is well-appointed, and there's a nice dining room just off it suitable for a family. It was clean--and easy to keep clean--and the full-sized washer and dryer were a real plus. We didn't make meals on the spot, so I couldn't tell you anything about the stove, but we found it a comfortable place to snack and eat take-out. There's also a cute free-standing single bedroom hideaway in the back yard. Unfortunately, our grandson--at 11--wasn't quite ready for "independent living," but a teenager would've LOVED the combination of closeness and privacy. So to accommodate five people without using it, we had to utilize the pullout couch in the living room, which was adequate if not quite as comfortable as a standard bed. But it ultimately worked out well, and everyone enjoyed the place, the location, and the vacation.

I suppose if I were doing the advertising, I might make it more clear that the house accommodates FOUR people well with two bedrooms, but can also work for up to two more if they don't mind a pull-out couch and a single enclosed bedroom in the garden.

"Lovely stay, beautiful home with lots of great character, wonderful location, amazing garden area"

Couldn't be a better location for exploring downtown Newburyport on foot.

For people who run hot the upstairs stayed quite warm even if the downstairs cooling was turned down low.
