Quarterdeck Cottage Kalk Bay - No Load Shedding

The location.

It was in need of TLC. Room was very basic and a smell of damp pervaded. The bathroom is in need of an update and the dividing curtain needed replacing as it didn’t provide any privacy. The iron fused the electrics but another iron wasn’t offered. The pool edging was in need of attention.

The property was modern with all facilities included. Parking was easy and location excellent.

The property is very well placed to explore Kalk Bay and has a pretty entrance area with garden table with sea view. Also the managing agents are some of the most efficient and friendly I’ve ever dealt with. There was a power cut during our stay which was managed very well.

The property had a major damp problem and the smell in the living area/kitchen was overwhelming. I leant to keep all the drawers and cupboards shut to keep it to a minimum. I know the builders were due in after us to assess the issue so it may well have improved. The property is well equipped and is in a very good location but it is very much the basement area and therefore subterranean in atmosphere.

Excellent location with views of the sea and harbour. Felt very safe. Street parking outside. Very cosy and comfortable with delightful garden. Highly recommended.

The bedroom is underneath part of the house so you can sometimes hear movement above but we did not find this an issue.

Thanx for allowing us earlier entrance and occupation of the unit after 14 hours of continuous driving. Small space in the garden of the sea view due to overgrown shrubs. Walking distance from the beach and a variety of curio shops. The owner's daughter who was house sitting was very friendly and helpful.

The owners live on top in the home above the cottage. Constant footsteps all day round were a disturbance at times. No secure parking. Only available on the sidewalk and then often randomly occupied by others. The geyser is either not very big or the heat setting is too low. Impossible to take separate showers because water is cold after a total of max 10 minutes. When we mentioned this, the reply was that there's never been a problem before.... But we worked around it by taking a shower together every time. Unfortunately also no covered outside space to be able to be outside while it's raining or during bad weather. No outside braai facilities. Very small space at the entrance of the cottage due to overgrown shrubs and quite a lot of loose standing potplants.
