Vita Portucale ! Sintra Retreat Villa with Pool

Location was good, easy to get into the town using Uber. The property was in a quiet area and the pool was a good size

Bathroom downstairs was in need of some renovation, the shower curtain was mouldy. The oven needed cleaning as did the BBQ. Towels and bed linen were showing signs of age. The television aerial was broken.

Great big garden, good-sized swimming pool, spacious accommodation great for a cheap holiday.

Unfortunately when we arrived 3 storms had ravaged the area, trees down and flooding everywhere, it's also a little off the beaten track, would of been perfect but for the terrible weather.

This villa is a great place to stay if you're wanting something away from the hustle and bustle in a quiet less situated area. It's very much surrounded by greenery in the hills and therefore you need a car or to use a taxi to easily get about the area. From the back of the venue, it was great to have sights of the palaces such as Peña and Moorish Castle in the distance. You have your own private pool which has loungers and water hand cannons/floats provided which is great for is you have kids or like to play about in the water. However, if you want a beach day its easy enough to get to touristy areas like Estoril/Cascais. We opted for Praia das Maçãs (Apple beach) as it was closer and seemed like it would be a less busy area to relax in the sun. We really liked how spacious and affordable this property was as there was an arrangement of different areas available to settle for a meal. We really appreciated being greeted at the start of our stay by the staff and owner and given a tour of where everything was within the property. As a bonus we had a lovely time befriending one of the locals cat that visited the property. Which highlighted another great fact that this place is pet friendly.

In terms of accessibility, the property could perhaps do with a handrail for the stairs that lead to the pool and in the bath to make them easier for those with disabilities to use. Due to the environment the villa is situated in there were quite a few varieties of bugs. Having a cover of some sort for the pool at night and mosquito screens for the doors could be greatly beneficial to stop them getting in.
