The Old School House - Luxury Themed Apartments

Great location as our reason for the visit was a concert at the Motorpoint arena. We had also booked a fab restaurant all within walking distance and there was easy access to lovely cafes and the shops too. Gated access felt safe too.

We arrived after a 3 hour drive so was grateful as a family of 5 to use the facilities however there was only half a toilet roll between 2 bathrooms I did contact the email and they had replied that they’d send someone around but by then I had gone to the local shop to get some. The layout of the apartment is cleverly designed and has a great retro games theme. Unfortunately the property wasn’t as clean as I would have liked - while on arrival it seemed ok on a closer look there were hairs on the bedding on both double beds and even what appeared to be blood on a pillowcase and some surfaces hadn’t been wiped thoroughly. The sheets and towels provided were very thin too not the quality I had anticipated.

The apartment has 3 double bed rooms and a lounge, quite a unique, fun décor, great en suite shower rooms. good size rooms and very well appointed.

I booked the apartment late in the afternoon of my stay and later in the evening whilst at a restaurant, found the web based identification verification system annoying, time consuming and impossible to deal with from my Smartphone, however on calling the host we resolved this manually in just a few mins.. Thank you for this quick resolution.

Good location.

The main gate was broken and the front door had no closer so was left open. Anyone could walk straight in to the building off the street. As a result the main door banged all night. You couldn’t get up to shut it as the sensor by the door would turn the bathroom light on which then stayed on for about half an hour, glass door on the bathroom so bright as day in the bedroom. Lamps missing lightbulbs, no mattress topper on the bed, just a sheet. Towels smelt like they weren’t clean.

Die Lage direkt am Lace Market war hervorragend, dennoch ruhig gelegen. Ich war mir gar nicht bewusst, welches Thema ich gebucht hatte und bin im Sportsroom gelandet. Überall signierte Trikots von Premier League Legenden und anderen Sportsstars, genau mein Ding. Das Bett war groß und bequem und das Bad mit Badewanne und Regendusche definitiv ein Highlight. Ansonsten war das Apartment mit allem ausgestattet, was man erwartet, es gibt nur keine Kochplatten. Definitiv empfehlenswert.

The decoration was superb & quirky. Location wise it was central to everything we needed.

Property itself : There was rubbish under the bed, thick dust on pretty much every surface out of eyeshot, what looked like ejaculate on the sofa amongst many other stains & marks throughout, missing TV remote, budget loo roll, & there was a dank damp musty smell that seemed to be coming from the bathrooms. The entrance : to the property once we had managed to find it was embarrassing as people watched us struggle to gain access especially after all of the faff with the unnecessary online registration. Once we finally gained access after people staring, muttering & sniggering at our struggle we came across an obstruction of laundry trolley’s blocking our path which we subsequently had to manhandle out of our way with our heavy baggage we had already carried for a considerable time from the £15 a night car parking. I’ll informed or not at all extra costs : The car park was £15 a night (which isn’t unreasonable) although would have been nice to have a heads up as we had to travel with two vehicles. The holding fee (which was in breach of your own terms & conditions) was not made aware until after booking & had I known would have cancelled. £250 is ridiculous especially when a decent cleaner hasn’t been paid to do a proper job let alone the fee already paid for the stay. A real shame as it’s a lovely location & property otherwise & we would have definitely booked several times again without all of this nonsense.

Stayed here with some friends for a football team celebration, location was perfect and it was very easy to find, code for front gate didn’t work at first but a quick chat with a very friendly host and we were in. Apartment was central for all friends to meet and we had an excellent night! We’ll be sure to stay here again!
