HOLT Balcones Guesthouse - Two Double Beds Room

Very quiet location , peaceful , spacious

They had said someone else would be in the house during my stay and it was completely empty the second night so finally they sent staff to stay there for the next night. The security is very bad at that house. It is in a very upscale low traffic neighbourhood. The norm is no one on the street. ( unlike other San Miguel hoods) A completely empty house with 6 bedrooms was left with the front door open by the staff one day when I went out. ( and the cleaners in an isolated part of the house) . There are no safes either or places to keep valuables). Also they have no deterrents on their front walls and someone can jump over and get in easily. All the surrounding homes have razor wire or metal spikes. This is a very upscale area but staff is not trained to keep the house locked. When I awoke in the morning after my second night I found the interior access doors to the property from the street and from the garden below were all unlocked . The second night I spoke with someone on the phone who tried to calm me down when I sent a message that someone or something was on the roof. They have smart cameras . That is their reassurance. As a single woman travelling alone , not for me. Also, there were more than a few details that needed attending to in my room when I arrived . As they are managing everything from a distance no one seems to be checking maintenance issues . Ie blocked sink , broken luggage rack , … otherwise yes the location is idyllic but properties managed by non Mexicans on the other side of the world who think that a smart security camera is better than physical deterrents for security are not for me.

Beautiful place, super peaceful, spacious rooms.

Had issues getting in - we weren’t given the PIN code to the front door in the check in instructions. It was resolved after we messaged but not a great start. The drinking water ran out and didn’t get refilled until the next day.

Nice house. lovely grounds and patio.

This is like a house in the country. No staff. The door gate and garage was open when we left for dinner at 7.30pm. It made us feel weird and unsafe as there is no staff on the property. No coffee maker in room. Not so much as water or a glass. Quite far to walk to any restaurant

The house has some great vibes. It really sets the mood to enjoy your vacation, It's very peaceful and quiet. The views are amazing. The staff online was friendly. The ladies in the house who prepared our breakfast were very nice too. Wonderful bed and wonderful bedroom. Highly recommended.

The HOLT team provided clear instructions to get to the property, and their check-in process was easy. I appreciate the fast communication to accommodate me on such short notice. Our room was comfortable and clean, and the beds were super comfy. I'll stay here again the next time I'm in town.

The house is beautiful, just as shown in the photos. The rooms are super cozy and the complimentary breakfast is great. The house has a garage and you can also park outside the property very easily. The house is in a quiet location too. I would stay here again without a doubt : )
