Dongmyo Hanok Sihwadang - Private Korean Style House in the City Center with a Beautiful Garden

I think it's my first 10/10 review. My friends and I recently had the pleasure of staying at a charming traditional Korean house in Seoul for a week, and the experience exceeded our expectations in every possible way. From the warm ambiance to the incredible hospitality of our host, this stay became the highlight of our trip. Upon arriving, we were greeted by the incredibly kind and welcoming lady who served as our host. From the get-go, she went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Not only did she provide us with detailed tips on how to reach her place (which proved to be immensely helpful for both us and the taxi driver), but she also surprised us with an array of delightful sweets and thoughtful gifts that instantly set the tone for a wonderful stay. The traditional Korean house itself was a masterpiece of architecture, seamlessly blending the charm of the past with modern comfort. The interior was adorned with traditional furnishings, creating an authentic atmosphere that allowed us to immerse ourselves in Korean culture. There are two toilets available, one has only a toilet seat and a sink. Despite visiting in December, when temperatures in Seoul can drop to around 0 degrees Celsius, the traditional Korean house proved to be a cozy sanctuary. The efficient heating system kept us warm throughout our stay, allowing us to enjoy the traditional experience without any discomfort. One of the highlights of our stay was the convenient location of the house. A mere 8-minute walk led us to the metro station, providing easy access to all the major attractions in Seoul. This made our daily explorations hassle-free, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the vibrant city life while having a peaceful retreat to return to at the end of the day. What truly made our stay unforgettable was the genuine warmth and hospitality of our host.

If you are above 180cm of height - mind your head! That's absolutely normal and expected, just watch out as you'll need to bow quite often when changing rooms!

House keeper is very nice, the house is very confortable and tidy we are very happy to have a pleasant experience.

-The host is very responsive and welcoming. She helped us carry our suitcases and served us a special Korean traditional dish -The facilities are complete (beyond my expectations). There are even a guitar and board games too! -Very clean and nice design. Really well-maintaned

Maybe, the blanket could be lighter (a little bit too heavy). But it is just a minor thing, this place and the service are still exceptional!

It was 100% traditional. It was so beautiful. The customer service was the best one I've ever had, the woman was very helpful and really nice, great communication. We had everything we needed in the house. It was a great experience. Also, the place is surrounded by convenience stores and restaurants!

The location is great. We were near the Dongmyo temple, and Dongmyo station Line 1&6. It is surrounded by locals and a very interesting flea market. Watching the locals live their day to day life and having the opportunity to stay in a traditional hanok made me feel honoured and warm. It is a gem. For people who only saw the hustling and bustling of Seoul, I think the people who runs this Hanok in Dongmyo will change their mind. And this hanok took us back in time. I had a lot of quiet thoughts sitting in the garden, watching the little wood crafts details around the house. I think the hosts must be very romantic and poetic people to be able to run the hanok this way. They welcomed us to the place and treated us with the biggest heart. My heart instantly felt the warmth here. When we checked out, our host walked us to our cab pick-up location, and watched us leave. He even helped me carry my luggage to the main street, worrying about our heavy luggage (completely our fault from getting out of control on shopping). We were also here during Autumn, the tangerine and persimmon season. Having persimmons under the persimmon tree in a hanok will stay in my memory of Seoul for a long long time from now on.

Everything was perfect. There's nothing we don't like.

It was a real traditional place. Very beautiful and the host is really taking care of the place. It’s great for friends, partner, family. For anything really. She prepared a lot of things for our staying, also great communication. Amazing place, if you have foreign friends or bf, I strongly recommend to try this place. Still close from the subway station, bus station, a lot of restaurants around. I would definitely pick this place again.
