"Real Peru family experience"

9.0

This was one of the wonderful stay we ever had. This is real family guest house where you go for experience not for luxury. Although equipped with basics you have on a hotel, the place, the family and the feeling this wonderful place and people gave you is impossible to get elsewhere. Natural home made food, beautiful view of TitiKaka lake from the room, warm owners and their 4 children all make you feel part of Peru real community life. Nice fishing and hiking activities. I would recommend anytime Guido’s family for this unique experience.

"Perfect, magical place"

10.0

EVERYTHING! This was truly one of the best experiences I’ve ever done during years of travelling. Luquina and its community are a very special place, surrounded by peace and nature. Guido and his lovely family are extremely welcoming and they always give suggestions on activities to do inside or outside the community. Communication is very clear and we loved spending time with them. This gives you a great chance to see what real life around Titicaca like it’s like. Food is home cooked and everything was absolutely delicious and for a very fair price. I can’t recommend this place enough and, if I could, I would go back there right now! Muchas gracias para todo Guido!

Nothing, everything was perfect!

"A very special way to experience Lake Titicaca away from the crowds."

10.0

Our stay here was a very special and memorable experience. Guido and his family are welcoming and wonderful hosts, and we felt completely welcome in their home. Our room was very comfortable and clean with an amazing view, Guido organised fabulous activities - a walk up the hill with his daughter to watch the sunset, helping the family to plant potatoes, and a return boat trip to Puno via Taquile Island. Best of all he organised a private trip to a very small Uros Island where we were almost the only visitors - a complete contrast to what we had heard about the islands being very commercial. However it was useful to know some Spanish for this trip.

Nothing - we loved everything about it!

"Great stay waking up in front of Titicaca lake"

10.0

Breakfast was delicious and it was flexible regarding the time. There are not really any restaurants there, so we were thankful that the host cooked for us for a good price (lunch and dinner for 15 dollars a person) - she cooked very good and 3 courses each time. Vegetarian option available. The parking spot was great, directly in front of the house. The room was very big and comfortable, the bed was nice and we had a lot of blankets to be warm during the night. The view is amazing, directly next to Titicaca lake. Bathroom was good with a shower (and bathtub) and warm water. WiFi was great. We didn't have that much contact to the hosts and children like other reviews but they were very nice.

No English - which was no problem, as the host was very helpful and friendly by using a translator app. We booked a boat tour to the uros with the hosts cousin and it was also only in spanish, which we didn't know, so we didn't understand much. It was very hard to drive there and back up the hill with the car, very steep and narrow.

"Lovely home stay with lovely family in the country"

10.0

Lovely family. Guido invited us to do something with him every day. His three little girls were a delight. Beautiful country, beautiful view, right on lake Titicaca. We went kayaking one day and sailing another. We went to gather the sheep, and walked the llama to the lake for a drink. One day we watched them plow a field with two mules and then, along with grandma, planted beans. Got a very good sense of what life is like for the local people! Lovely cat and dog, two donkeys, one llama, two chickens, one big pig and two baby pigs, two cows, and lots of sheep! You eat all your meals there (no other options). The food is simple but good. Guido gave us a blazing hot hot water bottle every night and we could take a thermos of hot water for tea whenever we wanted.

We had a lovely stay and you will too as long as you know what to expect. It is essentially a family stay, though you have your own room and bathroom, near to other guest rooms. You are in a rural area with no town, no restaurants, ATMs, etc. The taxi or bus will drop you on the road above the village. Guido met us with a wheelbarrow to carry our suitcases and it was a somewhat challenging walk down in the pitch dark. However, due to the altitude, the walk up (while probably less than a quarter of a mile) at the end of our stay was brutal. An older or at all unsteady person would not be able to do it. The boat ride to the floating island nearby was interesting (the explanation of the history and how they live) but a little odd (it appears that tourists are their prime, if not only, source of income). Of the five families that live there, three set out their wares, weavings and knick knacks that we've seen everywhere, but more expensive. The rooms are simple. Bedside lamps would be a huge improvement as there is only one bright overhead that you have to turn off on via a wall switch. It would also be really great if they provided water. Fortunately, we had our own purifier. We would also be nice if they changed the bathroom trash.

"An authentic stay with a beautiful family - amazing."

10.0

Great first impression when Guido met us at the road and took our heavy bags down the hill. The room is absolutely stunning. Amazing view of the lake and llama - the only one in the village! Very clean and lots of bedsheets to keep warm. Hot shower, working toilet and all very clean. Guido sorted all of our day trips including Uros Islands, Kayaking and fishing. They gave us hot water bottles when it got really cold which was very thoughtful. His family were all so friendly and did their best to sit with us and accommodate our every need even with a small language barrier. Food exceeded our expectations, definitely in quantity! They accommodated for our veggie diet and we were completely stuffed after every meal, usually 2-3 courses at lunch and dinner. We particularly enjoyed the homemade soups and rice pudding dessert. Couldn’t recommend enough if you want an authentic experience of life on and around the lake.

"A beautiful lakeside village retreat"

10.0

Location is absolutely beautiful, right on the lake in a peaceful village. Lots of animals around and activities to do. A highlight was when we kayaked to a beautiful beach nearby. You can hike the mountain above the village as well. Guido, our host, organized trips to Taquile and the floating islands. The meals were home cooked and simple but outstanding. Highly recommend for a peaceful place to enjoy the region!
