El Retiro - Luxurious Getaway with Amazing Views

We recently stayed 3 nights at El Retiro, Dec 2023 and found the entire stay fraught with problems. There were three main areas of concern. First, it took 24 hours before we could get the television to work and it required the property managers at APEK Rentals to re-program the television remotely. Secondly, the jacuzzi, prominently mentioned in the advertisement, never worked. We called multiple times about the jacuzzi and the two individuals listed as property managers, ‘Joshua and Marshall’ did absolutely nothing to address the issue. Thirdly and most significantly, there was no way to control the temperature or the fan in the house. As a result, the ambient temperature in the house was approximately 62 degrees F with the fan blasting cold air through all the vents including the main vents in the bedroom. The result was we needed to sleep with our street clothes on. Again, the property managers did nothing when informed of this. After our stay ended, we wrote to the property managers asking for partial compensation for these major inconveniences. We heard nothing in response. Perhaps their business model is that dissatisfied customers should be simply ignored.

The place is so great. Kitchen fully stocked, backyard is so private, huge and so comfortable. The owners thought of everything!

The camera situation was definitely bothersome. I don’t like being watched in a private backyard and when you have small kids, they should never be recorded on someone else’s home recording. That itself would make me not rent this home again. Otherwise, this home is one of the best!
