Casa do Vale

Casa do Vale turned out to be the best part of our family trip to the north of Portugal - what a happy coincidence! We did a last minute booking for a place to stay near Peneda-Gerês National Park, and only found Casa do Vale, which is a bit far - 1 hour drive. And you know what? It was the best decision we've made. We were welcomed by the friendly brother and sister who own the place and who've been living in the village for generations. Even though there were some language barriers we got a lot of information from them about the area: The pure water running in the village that you can drink right off the fountain, the nearby lake "Barragem da Queimadela" - a must see!, the Boulder House, and so much more. The area is breathtaking. As for the house - it's comfortable and clean, spacious and accessible (even accessible bathroom). The fridge was generously filled with snacks, drinks and breakfast supplies, and fresh buns waited for us every morning on the door step. I highly recommend staying there. Beds are great, facilities are well kept, there's smart TV and A/C and parking places protected by a gate. 10/10 - can't wait to visit again.

Everything was great. I guess that location-wise, it depends on what you are looking to do. If you want to visit other places, this can be a bit far, and it's a 15 minutes drive to supermarkets. But to be honest - I could've been happy just spending time in the village and surrounding nature.

We liked everything. The house was super clean and modern. It had a very homely feeling. It included breakfast with fresh bread delivered at the door. The host was very welcoming and attentive at all times. We thoroughly enjoyed out stay!
