The Old Smithy Inn

Characterful and great location. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The rooms are small and not so well equipped, e.g. no small fridge, virtually no flat surfaces, that were not full, to put anything down on, e.g. the bedside tables had huge, end-table lamps on them, proper bedside lamps would be better. And generally the rooms are rather shabby, grime is building up, noticeably in the en-suite. And, whilst recognising that it's not part of a slick hotel chain but a country pub with rooms, the general organisation and efficiency leaves a lot to be desired, despite the really nice staff.

The location was great. The thatched pub is beautiful

The room was tatty. Bathroom door had lots of paint missing. The outside table was very small and not as pictured. The breakfast cereals were stale. Food, plates and glasses left on tables outside overnight. Not pleasant to see when arriving for breakfast

Great location for the South West Coastal Path. Lovely meal served at the pub.

Ruhig gelegen mit dem schönen Pub direkt nebenan. Sehr bequeme Betten. Sehr nettes Personal und leckeres Frühstück und Essen.

Schöne Lage. Ruhig, gemütlich und eine gute Küche. Super nette Eigentümerin und ebenso das Personal. Hilfsbereit und immer bemüht!!! Wir kommen gerne wieder und erinnern uns gerne an den Aufenthalt!

We liked the oldness of the building which was very welcoming and the garden was lovely. Every member of staff was excellent and extremely helpful. We also liked the separate self contained bedroom- bijou but with all amenities-warm and cosy. Very good home cooked breakfast.

Lack of reliable wi-fi. The Old Smithy is in the middle of nowhere and wifi is needed to drive anywhere. Also it is near to the South west coast path which I was walking (as well as at least two other guests) and a walker needs WiFi to plan routes, check weather and make future plans- the lack of reliable wifi made all this very difficult. It also meant the TV had no signal which when it was pouring with rain would have been quite nice!
