Mt Cook Lodge and Motels

A very good self catering facility. Comfortable bed and warm air con.

The cabins were located amongst long grass and very ordinary gravel driveways belying the comfortable interior. Check out was annoying. No reception staff until 9.30 am then a long delay to print out final invoices as $300 was charged on checkin as a security deposit and this was an issue with some customers. To dine at the Hermitage Hotel which owns this property, was a challenge as the car park was up a hill with no lighting whatsoever so it was a very tricky and treacherous walk to the car. Dangerous as well.

It was a very clean and cosy two bedroom apartment With the mount cook and mount Tasman view first thing in the morning.

Breakfast was great. The room was good

We didn’t know there would be no cafe or restaurant open at the lodge where we stayed. Our only option was the Hermatage hotel

Loved the view and location.

The bed mattress - I could feel the inner springs, and the pillows were cheap flat pillows, with only two pillows on the queen bed. The TV is an old Samsung with extremely bad picture quality, like 720p. There were only 5 channels to choose from and there was a line running down the middle. Only one bathroom towel was left for the both of us to use.

The room is great and extremely clean. The floor in bathroom has heating. Excellent view from the room.

Unlike the message said check-in at hermitage if booking date from 19 May to 1 Aug, there was no one in reception even before 18 May. We arrived the hotel and the information was unclear, we need to drive to hermitage hotel to check in , get the room card and get back to our own motel. The hairdryer and the heating machine is broken, but the staff provided the replacement immediately. Bar and grill is not open so there is nothing to eat. No microwave in the room, the only choice to eat is go to hermitage hotel bar to eat.

I thought this was just gonna be a basic stay given the name, but it was so much more than that! It's tasteful and newly renovated, a huge room and a fully equipped kitchen right in the park with views of the mountains and walking distance of the trailheads around Mount Cook. Wish we'd stayed longer!
