Beautiful swimming pool, relatively quiet place

I stayed here for nearly two weeks. While the place itself is quiet, it has a pool, and the female host was friendly, my overall experience ended on a very negative note. There was no clear check-out time. We only learned on the day before departure that the cleaning staff would arrive at 11 a.m. After negotiating with a female host, we agreed to leave at 11. Yet the cleaner arrived at 10:30 and was waiting outside the door, which made us feel awkward, so we had to let her in and leave as soon as possible. What is even more shocking is that the cleaning staff, without any consent from either of us, secretly took photos of our personal belongings to “prove” how untidy we were before departure. When I raised this serious concern, the host astonishingly claimed that the cleaning staff had been authorised to take photos of guests’ rooms. I paid to stay here for a more comfortable travel experience, not to be accused of poor housekeeping or to have my privacy violated in such a way. Even worse, a male host whom we had never met repeatedly called us, holding these photos of our backpack (which contained passports and important documents) and socks, and accused me and my husband of permanently damaging the stove, leaving the sofa in disorder (although the cleaning staff had not cleaned the couch on the first occasion), and demanded compensation. These photos were taken before she actually started cleaning after our departure. In fact, when we left, my husband even cleaned the stove again, even though we had no obligation to do so, and the booking platform did not require special cleaning. When I firmly pointed out that secretly photographing our belongings and making unilateral compensation demands outside the booking platform were highly inappropriate and intolerable, the male host softened his tone and even apologised. However, his response was still disturbing, as he began commenting on my and my husband’s private lifestyle.

Nice location; good price performance; spacious; well equipped

Unfortunately the appartment was not properly cleaned, apparently by exceptional different cleaning person (toilet, shower, mirrors, windows, fridge...), when we arrived Saturday afternoon. The hosts were engaged, but didn't succeed to get the appartment cleaned until Tuesday 6pm. This means we had to live with this situation for half of our stay. The hosts didn't accept to offer us any compensation; therefore we had to complain to booking.com.

The place was peaceful and calm and the place was clean.

Maybe that there was not enough kitchen ustensiles to cook. (Pan)

Huge and spacious apartment. Great location. Amazing views. Communication with the host was excellent.

The swimming pool was not heated.

The property was exactly what we were looking for—it was a home away from home. We were looking for the same type of space and comfort we would get at home in a rental on a small Island like Mauritius. The swimming pool was perfect for the kids too. It had the convenience of air conditioned bedrooms, blackout curtains, several bathrooms, and a minimalist decor with a peace of mind vibe. The owners were very responsive, caring, and helpful in every way. We look forward to coming back. Thanks Chelsea and Mike!

Nothing really, we had trouble leaving because we enjoyed the space so much.
