GBGBSuper-gregarious ex-teacher John, welcomes guests to a pair of well-equipped rooms in an attached annex to his relatively new home on a scenic ridge. The pair of rooms share a separate entrance and a little dining area where you're served a truly magnificent breakfast from a generous series of choices on a tick sheet to be filled in the night before. The 'Dunarain Special' starter is a cocktail glass full of scrumptiousness, followed by an over-sized Japanese-style bento-box filled with further delights - the delicious smoked haddock was especially good. We got the double room which has the advantage of easy access to the (theoretically shared) rear terrace overlooking the loch, while the twin room faces a rather less interesting view of the parking area. Our only criticism was that the bed in the double room sagged in the middle-right side which could bother sensitive sleepers. Overall a fantastic stay and an ever helpful host. Dunarain is 2km south of the Tarbert ferry terminal in a relatively isolated spot so you get great dark skies but access is best by car.

ITA perfectly kept place, few minutes of car driving away from Tarbert center. The owner gives you a warm welcome and very good suggestions on what to do and where to eat. The room was perfectly clean, quiet and comfortable. A nice welcome cup of tea with tasty hand made biscuits make the whole thing lovely and enjoyable.

GBA perfect place near the Ferry terminal to start your Hebridean adventure. Excellent breakfast through a voucher at Hotel Hebrides. John is an excellent host.

GBGBBeautiful house / accommodation , excellent position with view of the sea from bedroom and view of the loch at the front of the house. Private sitting room to have breakfast, or to watch television, with tea / coffee facilities and lovely shortbread . Friendly host .
GBThe warm welcome and friendliness of the host John. The location had amazing views and we were greeted with homemade shortbread biscuits and our own wee dram of whisky along with some nuts. Bathing products were from the Scent of Harris and smelt so nice. Lovely 25 min walk down in to Tarbert:
