The Red Door, Two-Bedrooms Apartment

Great, well equipped apartment just off of Leith Walk with great connections throughout the city. Perfect base for a stay in the city!

Flat was spacious.

I am not sure I would describe it as deluxe. Aspects such as you were told we couldn't use washing machine or dishwasher, yet no plug or drying rack. No plug in bathroom also meant children couldn't have a bath. None of this felt 'deluxe' - plus very expensive for what is an ex-council flat in tenement building.

Secure parking

The key component wasn’t explained in the introduction however the owners were swiftly onto the case to help get the keys sorted. The full accommodation smelt off cannabis and the neighbours in the hallway were so loud! On one of the nights some kids kept pressing the buzzer around midnight which kept waking us up! Was unloading the car after going shopping one evening and got threatened that my car will be gone by the morning. Pictures showed that there was a washing machine in the kitchen until we got there and found out that we weren’t allowed to use it The bed has one pillow either side and would of preferred to have two pillows either side Toilet was extremely hard to press to flush and couldn’t sit on it correctly due to the drying towel in the way Bath was covered in mould which was a little bit of putting. was shown but the owners removed the plug so no baths were a no go. Also the shower glass has a chip missing which cut my hand Light bulb missing from the main entrance into the apartment Massive hole/burn in the carpet in the bedroom which unfortunately ripped my brand new socks :( Overall the apartment could do with a freshen up as there was holes in the walls which have been filled in poorly

Surprising property. From the outside, it would be easy to not expect much, but the hosts have done an excellent job of renovating the apartment and it had all the basics and more. Good location with easy access to the city centre and Leith, comfortable bedroom and well-equipped kitchen. TV setup was a bit odd, but we didn't really get time to chill and watch TV, so not a problem. Car parking was a definite bonus for us, as parking anywhere in Edinburgh's a bit of a nightmare. If you do have a car, though, best to get it into the car parking area before 6pm. We cam eback from a day out at midnight and it was packed - had to park on the front street (not easy) and move the car first thing. Not a drama, but good to be aware of. Didn't fully test the WiFi as I wasn't in work mode but, from the little we did use it, it seemed very capable of streaming and uploading/downloading files. All in all, an excellent experience and we'd certainly stay again.

TV 'arrangement' could have been much clearer. We'd have brought our own Fire TV stick had we known. No low-level lights in the living space, so we brought the battery lamps in from the bedroom. Frankly, that's the only touch that the place is missing (for me). Otherwise, it was genuinely comfortable and an all-round good experience.

The building to get in the apartment was run down and we were a little concerned about the area

Property was spotless, good communication before and during my stay. Apartment has everything you could need for a comfortable stay!

Nothing, some people may prefer to stay close to centre but I love this part of Edinburgh, great bars, restaurants, walks all within walking distance

Great location, super quiet, spacious apartment. ~40min walk to the old town(super easy) and a few minutes by tram, which is a 5min walk from the apartment(Foot of the walk). I had a car and was able to use the parking lot at all times. Left the apartment without the keys once and the hosts were able to help quickly.

I understand the washing machine is not listed, but I did not see it beforehand and thought we could use it as it's there in the pictures. We only realized it could not be used after reading the instructions from the host. I think it should be clearer somehow that it cannot be used as I also saw more people complaining about it.
