It was so clean and felt luxurious inside! (I can't believe I am saying this for a cave!) The entire property is literally a hidden gem and the price you pay is totally worth it! Breakfast was tasty and in the evening we could purchase beer at a normal price. The bathrooms are separate but well maintained and we had no issues with them being far from the room. Watching the stars at night was the highlight of our stay!

Everything was perfect except that there was a larger group of guests who I felt had a bit of preferential treatment compared to us. Like they got their breakfast at the courtyard as they wanted to do it there, but their table was right in front of our bedroom and they woke us up early with a lot of noise while having their breakfast there. I think this could be avoided if they had their food where everyone else do... Same for the evening when they had their yoga class and later dinner there so we kind of had to constantly comply with their wishes.

Staying here was an incredible experience. The hotel was absolutely gorgeous, down to the last detail and extremely clean and comfortable. At night in the courtyard you look up and feel you are in a bowl of stars. We even saw shooting stars!! It was so special. The owner went above and beyond for us. Tunisia is so easy to get around by louage (8 person shared taxi/bus). But as the hotel is in the dessert it is a bit hard to get to as the buses don't go here. The owner came for us himself to pick us up in Gabes, the closest major city! He was extremely responsive and with messaging on booking.com/whatsapp this was easy to organize! Many people don't drink in Tunisia, but as a tourist the owner was very helpful and offered to us to procure wine/drinks if we would like (which we very much enjoyed!). He also taught me the local card game "chkobba" which I had seen someone playing in a cafe in Tunis. He was a great teacher and so kind of him to do this for me! It made the evening so special. The food was fabulous as well! This is a stunning hotel that has been visited by diplomats from Canada, America and many other places, and when you go you can see why they came. 5 stars!

A unique lovely place out of the town with large underground rooms that face out together into a central open patio. Without A/C units ratling away it's a very peaceful place... the silence was deafening! But it is cooler underground anyway so there is no need for them even if 40deg outside! The food was excellent in quality and quantity cooked by in house chef and served in an underground dining area. Lovely underground places to sit / relax with colourful lighting. Wifi only near the entrance. On arrival there was no information board, or front desk about local tours, maps or what one can do here. Information was not freely offered and had to be asked for, so you feel out on a limb unless you have a hire car. If you're fit you can walk upto Matmata which is 5km away and takes about an hour. However the hidden gem was the owner Habib who will take you on a private tour in his own car pretty much where ever you want, he has lots of local knowledge... just be sure to agree a price with him BEFORE he takes you on a trip! Also... English is NOT spoken here despite the 'English Spoken' box being ticked so as with all Tunisia in general polish up on your French! Bon Voyage!

I booked a hotel in the city because it was convenient for dinner and sightseeing, but when I went there, it was a hotel in the middle of the desert. Therefore, it was very inconvenient to have to go to dinner by taxi. When I made a reservation through Booking.com, this hotel was posted in the town on the map posted by Booking.com. I think this is a problem with Booking.com. The hotel was in the middle of the desert, so it was the worst because the air conditioner stopped working. Also, on the last day, there was no water.
