JOE'S CASTLE

The location was reeeally isolated. I guess that makes for a change in the Philippines. It was quiet except for the animal (buffalo, dog, rooster, lizard!) sounds which were actually fairly loud. The breakfast was enormous and they put some effort into it but I happened not to be much of a fan of the food (but maybe you would be). The room was large and the bathroom was really spacious with decent shower water. The fridge was quite well stocked, with prices listed for everything (the water was free). The lady working the office was very kind and attentive. It's quite close to the chocolate hills and you can see one of the hills from the driveway.

Their airport shuttle was shockingly expensive - more than the cost of a night - so I took the airport bus to Tagbilaran, then the DMTC bus to Sagbayan, then the back of a motocycle to Joe's Castle. It was less onerous than it sounds, and cost less than one-tenth of the shuttle. Once you're at Joe's Castle you have no option but to rent their motorcycle, which is also quite expensive. There's nothing at all to do (but relax) once you're there - there's no popping around the corner for a bite to eat or to hang out somewhere; the tiki bar that others talked about was non-existent; the hot tub wasn't working.... The internet was never more than one bar, definitely not enough to make a whatsapp call.

The room we stayed in was on the second floor. The AC was working well enough. There was hot water in the bathroom. We had breakfast outside the room in the terrace when it wasn’t raining. The location is quiet and the view is pastoral.

Parking is a little tight but your car is secure.

Staff were friendly and helpful with planning our stay in Bohol. We were able to rent mopeds with Joe’s castle, which is a must in the area. Room was clean and comfortable with air conditioning.

Great place, can recommend at any time! Very friendly staff. I had the room on ground floor, and it was big and well equiped.

Definitely the location near the chocolate hills. Scooter rental at the location. Full stock tiki bar with great music as late as you want. The rooftop was incredible! The staff was very helpful with all the information about the must-see places in the area. Overall Joe's Castle is made for you to feel that you are at a private resort type setting. Definitely recommend 100%

I wish I would have planned to have stayed here longer and not in the City.
