Eirini Apts On the beach

Spacious apartment with a large terrace, overlooking the local road (rarely busy) and mainly the sea. The apartments are dated but functional. The kitchen equipment is basic and old but we didn't plan on cooking anyway. Comfortable mattress and you can sleep with the terrace door open, listening to the sea. The owner, Eirini, brought us delicious fresh, warm homemade local patries twice during our stay in the morning - very nice gesture, we enjoyed these with a morning coffee on the terrace :) The area is very local and remote, you'll meet very few tourists here. The village has a small supermarket and there's a great taverna right across the road from the apartments - they open at 8am for breakfast and serve delicious food throughout the day. We ate there during the entire stay and didn't need any self-catering The beach is one of the largest in the area, however the access to water is steep. It gets fairly deep after approx. 2 meters. Sunbeds and umbrellas for free from tne local taverna. There is also a stylish beach club (Paraiso) at the far end of the beach, they serve Mediterranean fusion cuisine and the prices are higher than usual for Crete (5€ for a glassnof wine). The beach is peaceful and really far from the touristic holiday vibe of Ierapetra or the north coast so you can truly switch off

Lack of housekeeping - we stayed for 3 nights and nobody showed up throughout our stay for cleaning. The floors were not swept/mopped before our arrival, we realized when walking barefoot in the apartment. No shower curtain = impossible to take a shower without flooding the bathroom, and there was no floor drain. Also, the owners don't speak English (using google translate), luckily we didn't need anything special during our stay so this wasn't an issue.

Great rooms, very good, quiet, right at the beach, restaurants and cafes, a small super market too. Person who met us there was so kind.
