The Essence Hotel at JFK

I appreciated it being in close vicinity to Jamaica station. I was a first-time visitor to NYC and chose to stay closer to JFK to make travelling with luggage easier. Not knowing the neighbourhood beforehand I’d have to say that the surrounding area is a little rough, though the hotel was clean and comfortable. The room was clean and comfortable and I slept well.

False advertising. The listing states that luggage storage is available, but declines to mention that there’s a $20 cost for this, which I think is a blatant cash grab. My luggage was stored in a huge room adjacent to the reception area, so I don’t see the reason behind the charge. The room was well appointed, but not very soundproof; outside noise and noisy neighbours were an issue, but thankfully that died down late at night.

Room wasn’t cleaned, condom wrappers on the floor, used condoms under the bed, smelled like pee, very over priced.
