The Cottage, Beautiful New Forest 5 Bedroom Thatched Cottage

The kitchen was excellent

Only one shower room meant a lot of organising to get all 10 of us ready each morning.

We had donkeys, ponies and cows wandering by, so keep the gate closed! We parked four cars easily. The keys were found in a key box. Lovely welcome pack of food and drink. The two bathrooms have character! The upstairs toilet will make you smile. The downstairs shower is a lovely huge/wet room. The house was immaculately clean. The kitchen is huge. The AGA is lovely. Plenty of kitchen equipment. We didn’t explore the garden as the weather was bad but the whole place is well kept. WiFi worked perfectly. The holiday let company communicated well with us and were really helpful. The Fighting Cocks pub is just up the road and we had a great meal there. The Ship Inn pub in Fordingbridge is also great for food.

Challenges: Can be tricky to spot the entrance of The Cottage at night. The downstairs bedroom is located away from the downstairs bathroom (dining room in between). This is for information if you have elderly/disabled visitors. There are only two bathrooms. The upstairs bathroom has a claw foot bath, with loose shower head (not fixed up to use like a shower). The bath takes a lot of hot water and will take an hour to refill the hot water for others. We had 8 of us staying and it meant in the mornings were all waiting on the downstairs shower room to get washed. Bring extra toilet roll! The stairs are extremely steep. No use of any fire/bbq or use of the wood burner in the property due to the thatch.
