Station House - Furnished Lets

Swinton itself may not be a picturesque location, but it was perfect for us visiting family in Mexborough. Station House is in a quiet side street with easy parking, and is not overlooked at the front or the back. The house itself has been stylishly decorated and comfortably furnished, and the kitchen is very well fitted out, with modern integrated appliances and a large fridge/freezer. There is a downstairs cloakroom/utility room, which is always handy. Three comfortable double beds in the two bedrooms were great for three of us in one family (one Mum and two 15 year old daughters). The upstairs bathroom was en suite to one of the bedrooms, which was fine for us, but it may not be ideal for separate couples, say. Swinton has many (many!) takeaway food outlets, and there are handy local shops within walking distance in Swinton and Mexborough. There are frequent buses at the end of the road, and mainline train stations at Swinton and Mexborough are a very short drive away or within reasonable walking distance. It's a really convenient location for getting to Doncaster, Barnsley, Rotherham, Sheffield and further afield. We have tried several other properties in the area, and this is definitely the best of them. Lee, the owner, was friendly and helpful, and we will happily stay here again.

The stairs are steep, but there is a sturdy stainless steel bannister which helps. The only issue for us was that there is nowhere to sit to eat, just two bar stools at the kitchen island, so we brought our own lap trays and ate sitting on the sofas. There is some unused space in the kitchen, and we wondered if a folding table and chairs might be provided? None of this would stop us booking again, though.

loose carpet on very narrow stairs could have been an issue with younger kids. Obvious signs of ongoing damp problem.

The facility is very clean, the facility is well equipped.
