SHELDER Hôtel - CHERBOURG EN COTENTIN - Equeurdreville

Location nearby to Cherbourg 'city' and also to driving out west of France. Handy spot. Free parking on site. It is a handy spot for a stopover. There was a miscommunication as we were guided to a table for dinner and we thought it was just to sit as my husband had trouble sitting comfortably at the bar. Then they started to take our order for dinner - so we just stayed and ordered instead of going out. Anyway the meals were lovely but not enough options. Plenty of boulangerie and patisserie around. We went to the one by Lidl at the roundabout - it was perfect. I would return as a stopover. People are nice and friendly.

There were nowhere to use our laptops and work from in the room nor out of the room. We had to lie in bed with our laptops. The coffee/kettle table was not wide enough so again limited space to work. We also had to keep requesting little things that housekeeper didn't replace. These are really minor issues hence why it's great for a stopover/en route. It wasn't easy finding the place either as the sat nav was taking us into what we thought looked like a 'dodgy area' and no entry sign was up, but just follow its instruction from the motorway. Oh the only bug I have is there is no English subtitles on tv as this has to be coded in with staff who didn't know it. So I couldn't even watch any USA programmes as it was all dubbed. Plus I am deaf and I couldn't even get any subtitles so I used my laptop - which then became uncomfortable to sit up and watch in bed.

Small room and breakfast was almost empty (not refilled) choices was poor and little.

Staff friendly and happy to speak to discuss and recommend local beers. Not a lot of food in evening but cheese and meat boards well worth it. Seckyded.parking reasonable good for bikes

Would have been good to be able to eat in the restaurant at the hotel. It does not operate Friday to Sunday,
