Alps Serenity Retreat - Wanaka

We loved that the property was immaculate. It was practically brand new with all modern facilities. Everything was exceptionally clean and well maintained. The check in process was easy and not fussing about getting keys when all we needed was a door key. It really was a home away from home but with exceptional views!

The washing machine wasn't great. It was a combined washer/dryer and really need a separate dryer, especially during winter for those who are doing a family ski trip. If you don't mind a 3.5 hour wash/dry cycle and semi damp clothes, then you'll be ok.

Absolutely everything! I’ve been travelling since December 23 and can honestly say this has been the nicest place I’ve stayed to date. The area is stunning with a bar, restaurant and small shop located 2/3 minute walk. The interior of the apartment was 10/10. It had everything you could possibly think of needing; lamps with wireless phone charger and usb at the side, washer/dryer with laundry detergent, TV that could connect to all apps like Netflix/Prime video, and the most comfortable bed/bedding. We slept so soundly the two nights we stayed. Could not recommend this place enough!

Absolutely nothing!

The apartment was paid for before check in. Beds were clean and comfortable, bedrooms were a bit tight for space. Liked that is was clean and full sized fridge/freezer for our shopping. Liked that there were complimentary snacks upon arrival, didn't eat them but nice to know it was available. Cleanliness of the streets. Not in the heart of Wanaka, but not too far away from the lake and main shopping areas.

Value for $ just wasn't worth what we paid, even for the location. There should be instructions left in a folder, how to use the oven top, was one of those new ones that you have to put a pot on it to work. took a moment but figured it out. Where to dispose of rubbish. There was one small community cafe at the end of the street which is walkable distance, anything else you need a vehicle. We all felt the links that were emailed to us to complete before we could get an address or door code were far too convoluted. We drove around for ages trying to find the apartment, called a number which was outside operating hours, so hung up and ended up calling the emergency number and spoke to a lovely helpful person who had to use google maps to help us locate the exact street and apartment, so we were driving up and down the streets. There were no or very little street signs, the location was very new and still being developed. The person who took our call helped us to check in over the phone and helped us to obtain the door code. Didn't like having to haul our suitcases and groceries up 2 lots of stairs. Didn't like the 1st bedroom had no aircon. Didn't like that the 2nd bedroom had no opening window/s for fresh air, no aircon or tv. Would have been nice to have a 2nd window covering other than roller blinds in the bedrooms, so we could leave the roller blinds up during the day and still have some privacy from outside when dressing. The walls are very hollow so noise travelled well. Had to walk to a neighboring carpark on the back side of the building to dispose of our daily rubbish in a shared skip bin.

location was a little out of central Wanaka but only a 10minute drive. locally there is a nice bar and restaurant within walking distance. area at present is peaceful and very tidy and new. the apartment is very nice and fully fitted with modern clean furniture and kitchen equipment too. 2 bathrooms are well fitted too with showers with multiple spray settings and lovely body wash and shampoo with conditioner. night lighting pops on when you open the bathroom door. televisions x 2 one in lounge and one in the master bedroom. being near christmas they had evening put up a little white lit tree, just perfect.
