Exceptional traditional Japanese experience!

We stayed here for four nights during our trip to Japan, and I would definitely repeat my stay whenever I come back to Kyoto. Sho-san and his son were excellent hosts. They were extremely pleasant, always with a smile and made us feel more than welcome at their home. It's a traditional japanese house, old but very well kept, clean and with all the amenities available. It is very picturesque, and the room was what we expected, cute and with very comfortable tatami mattresses. You have a kitchen available with lots of varied foods for breakfast. Although the house is far from the usual touristic sites, it's well connected with a bus stop just infront of the house where 3 buses pass that can take you to Kyoto centre and have several touristic sites on their route, so it's very convenient. Also, you have through several can take you to Kyoto center. You also have kokusaykaikan metro station at about a 15-minute walking distance that can connect you fast to Kyoto station.

The property is a bit far from typical major tourist attractions, but is located on a main road very close to public transportation either by train or by bus (less than 2 min). Ideally located for exploring northeast section of Kyoto. The property is not new but very well maintained and very clean. It is a simple tatami floored room and you would be sleeping on a futon. The room had a kotatsu table where you could warm yourself which I really appreciated. The shared kitchen was very well stocked with breakfast food which you had free access to. The best thing about the accommodation though was the very friendly owner. He was very accommodating and concerned about my comfort during my stay. Gave me suggestions about places to see and eat nearby and even gave me a souvenir to remember my stay by.

I was comfortable there, but it is a Japanese style accommodation with shared bath and toilets so it won’t be for everyone.

We loved the warm friendly welcome, generous hosts, thoughtful touches plus the range of breakfast choices. Great location close to the station.

Great traditional japanese house and great hosts. The family makes you feel like you are home. Super nice and warm people.

A bit far from the centre and most popular attractions but good transport from there.
