Lovely family Hospitable Atmospheric Peaceful

Paço de São Cipriano is an incredibly beautiful historical house with stunning gardens and comfortable and clean rooms. We were extremely well received by the family that has occupied this house for centuries and felt right at home. We also enjoyed listening to the many stories around the house which allowed us to better appreciate its importance and meaning. The house is extremely well located, near Guimaraes and many other points of interest of the North of Portugal. At the same time, it is set well within a large property, with a forest and a secluded garden, so that we thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful environment, especially waking up in the morning and only hearing the sounds of birds and water trickling from the many fountains in the garden. We highly recommend staying here, for a truly authentic northern portuguese experience as well as the opportunity to visit and sleep in one of the most beautiful houses in Portugal.

We had an amazing stay at the beautiful 15th-century hotel in Porto area. The friendly staff provided great hospitality, turning on the heater upon our rainy day arrival. The room had fresh flowers and embroidered sheets, and breakfast by the fireplace included fresh fruit. The wonderful garden, forest, and guided tours of the old chapel and surroundings added to the charm. Highly recommended!

A short drive from the city of Guimarães - Portugal's birthplace almost 1,000 ago - this 15th century house has been in the same family for 600 years. The atmosphere is one of living, and very lived, history, a stage where the house, the furniture, the beautiful garden and the family are intertwined - sometimes indistinctly... We were given a large, clean, aristocratic room with one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in. Our stay proved to be as charming as we had hoped for, with thanks to the owners for their extraordinary welcome.

This property is unique as it remains in the hands of the Family who have owned the property since the 14th Century. It has not been modernised and made into a corporate venture . Here you will find what the French Philosopher Gaston Bachelard described as ‘homeness’ rich in emotion and memory . This is what I felt when I entered the gates of Paco de S Cipriano
