The Alpine - Queenstown Holiday Home

I recently visited The Alpine, and while it came with a hefty price tag, I was disappointed by the dated decor and lack of attention to detail. For the cost, I expected a more modern and polished atmosphere, but instead, I found cheap crockery and a space that felt stuck in the past. The service was fine, but the overall experience didn’t match the premium price. It felt like a place relying on its location rather than delivering something truly special. I wouldn’t return, given the price-to-quality ratio.

Great sized sunken lounge room with fantastic view.

Worn, dated and mis-matched decor, marks all over the walls and doors, ugly graffiti wall in dining room, looks very different in real life to the website photography. Terrible lighting as mentioned in another review; light fixture in dining room actually fell off the wall whilst we were there so we had to use a lamp from one of the bedrooms. Badly equipped kitchen for example just one wooden chopping board that was old and broken. Not cleaned well; cooking fat all around the stove which was making the place smell like burnt fish, dust on side tables in bedroom, cob webs in roof, lots of rubbish left in bedside table draw including cigarette packet. Guests staying in main bedroom said bed is bowed and very uncomfortable. Only a dirty used sponge provided no dish cloths, no hair conditioner as usually provided with Bach care properties.

Great view, nice and quiet, plenty of room and loved the heated bathroom floors.

Felt the kitchen could have been better equiped and we could not get local TV. Also the mattresses on the single beds were very saggy and tired.

The view, spa pool is huge, cozy beds and liked the bathrooms with floor heaters on it.

We only found out that you can't use the spa pool after 10P.M. and it didn't say that there's a time usage in Booking.com. There's a note in the kitchen table that notified us about the usage of it. If we only knew that there's a limit, we should not have booked it. We also have to message them about the firewood as they only gave us a few to use for only 1 night and we are staying for 3 nights in total. The good thing about it was they gave us some more after we asked. But still, providing enough for our whole stay would be great as we are paying good money to have a great stay. Also, there's dog poo on the balcony. We don't even have a dog with us. We couldn't cook food properly as the pans/pots either burned food easily or didn't heat fast enough. The lighting in the dining area needs enhancement as it felt like there's a spotlight on the table.
