I loved absolutely everything about this quirky and unique place. The location was stunning and the bell tent was wonderful with homely touches. The kitchen and luxurious bathroom are pure genius and were equipped with everything I needed. The owners were warm and welcoming and along with a delicious breakfast, this made for a perfect stay. Thank you Howard and Fiona for making this little gem.

We had a great experience staying for one night in a glamping bell tent. It was lovely to be surrounded by an apple orchard. The bell tent itself was nice: the bed and duvet were comfortable. If you plan to stay here, be sure to bring a power bank, as there is no electricity, and an eye mask since the tent gets very bright in the morning. Very different experience to the night before. The location is convenient, close to the seaside and shops. We had a bit of trouble finding the exact spot via GPS, but we followed the road signs for the barn, which led us there. The continental breakfast was delicious and included in our Genius booking. Otherwise, it would have been an additional charge. The shower facilities were clean, powerful, and not far from our tent. They are shared with another bell tent. Overall, it was okay, however, £120 for one night during the weekend is quite pricey for a “tent” experience without electricity. Not sure if I would stay again.

There is a lack of electricity, and the price for "glamping" is quite high for just one night over the weekend.

The peace and quiet

Glamping tent in an orchard. Very comfortable with a beautiful peaceful setting. Facilities are simple but that is part of the fun. Clean bathroom with a warm shower. Self catering facilities. A breakfast bar with coffee, toast & croissants on request. Proprietors friendly and helpful.

It was just right.

Absolutely stunning location, camping in the middle of an orchard was perfect. The bell tents were really cute inside and out, super clean and may I add the bed was so comfy, the sheets were so soft! Howard went above and beyond for us during our stay. The horsebox/bathroom conversation was brilliant, oh and the cider was bloody lovely!!! The fruity one was to die for. We will be returning to get the ultimate experience when we don’t have to attend an event that evening. Thank you again Howard, you really are a great host!

The only thing I would pick out would be maybe some lights when returning back a bit later on after sunset if you’re returning from an event. Another thing I noticed (and this is no way Bowheyes fault, just adding on for future bookers) if you have an event on in or around Exeter all local taxi companies was fully booked, I’m used to heavily relying on Ubers/bolts (which I did google if they operate in this area) and we didn’t manage to get one. Pre book your taxis in advance if you’re travelling down to Exeter, again would just like to state this isn’t a point off towards Bowheyes, as Howard was more than helpful with sending us local taxi numbers/public transport routes!

I liked everything, Howard and his wife Fiona are incredible hosts and company. Nothing was ever too much trouble for them, and they always went above and beyond. Breakfast was amazing, thank you. Pippin was very comfortable and clean. And had everything I needed. Will come back for a winter stay so I can use the wood stove. The toilets and shower room are very clean and accessible if you happen to remember the code, unlike me. 😁 and lots of hot water. The grounds are gorgeous, surrounded by beautiful cider apple trees. It was a very tranquil and peaceful getaway. Thanks to the wonderful hosts. Venn ottery is beautiful, lovely walks, and a short drive will get you where you need to be. Try the venison burgers on the bbq. They are amazing. Also have beautiful trees for sale, My favourite is the Cercis Merlot redbud tree 🌳 Definitely will be back!
